Ive never posted this pic before, because the angles just about make me look surreal and larger than life. It was taken by the creative Matt Knapickk. I may look like a cardboard cut out, but I was actually standing there on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour wearing my stage heels and a bikini Ive never posted this as when womens bodies deviate from the norm it makes people feel uncomfortable and the result is criticism or ridicule. And Ive had my fair share. In a world where difference is misunderstood, for me the sensitive petal I am, being myself often requires a lot of courage Life is marvellous when you challenge your boundaries and face fears. LIfe is extraordinary when you can be brave enough to be yourself. It’s not easy, and I certainly have my struggles, but it is a fabulous adventure. When you decide to go for it and step out of the comfort zone all sorts of magic happens I’m proud of who I’m am. I know I’m not everyone’s cup of tea and thats ok. Fitness accounts can annoy me— heck, sometimes even my own account annoys me because at the end of the day, YOU already have everything you need to do hard things 👊🏼 . You don’t need external motivation, you don’t need my circuits, you don’t need her recipes— you just need to implement habits that aren’t always fun and don’t have immediate payoffs #unpopularopinion . That might sound like tough love, but hopefully it empowers you to realize that the motivation you think you’re looking for will be gone again before you find it 🙇🏼‍♀️. DON’T depend on it for your progress or you’ll always be starting and re-starting and that’s just not fun . I used to be so intimidated by the weights section at the gym. I avoided it at all costs because I felt like I’d stick out like a sore thumb and everyone would judge me for not really knowing what I was doing. I stayed a cardio bunny for a long time. Which there’s nothing wrong with if you enjoy that...but I didn’t. I WANTED to lift, but it was straight up scary to me. It’s funny for me to look back on because it’s where I feel the most comfortable now. I no longer worry about what others think, I feel super confident in what I’m doing while knowing there’s always room for improvement, and I get so much enjoyment out of lifting. After working with countless women and helping them add resistance training into their routine (which is the best way to get that “toned” look), I realized that it wasn’t only me that struggled with the fear of lifting. If you’ve been avoiding adding lifting into your routine because you’re intimidated by the weights section, this episode is for you. 🍑 Happy HUMP day y’all 🍑 - Yesterday night and this morning has been tough. I have been emotionally unstable, nervous, and anxious about family health problems that have come up. I’ve had such a positive attitude recently, and I’m doing all I can to keep that through this rough patch. - But you know what, EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY no matter if things turn out the way I want them to or not. Trials are all part of life! - I zoned off of the anxious and nervous feelings and KILLED IT on arms today by myself. 💪🏼 I didn’t make an excuse, I put my goals first, and I’m so happy I did. I wanted to stay in bed and sleep in from all the crying I’ve been doing. - NO! I cuddled an extra 5 minutes and jumped up encouraging myself to stay motivated. Running my goals through me head. Reminding myself to everything will be okay. SO GLAD I WAS ABLE TO WORKOUT TODAY. Been processing it for a few days and here's my response: 1. I agree with EVERYTHING she said. Do yourself a favour and go watch! 2. I've felt and experienced what the message of this video is. Jera said that someone had told her because she is a certain size, she can NOT 🙅🏼‍♀️ be body positive. Well, I've always been about the same size.. Check out my #10yearchallenge post from a few days ago and you'll see, I really haven't changed much. 3. I do physique competitions so that must mean I'm fit and confident? Imma stop 🛑 you right there and say no. Sure I felt great show day, but I still remember looking at myself and thinking I wish I had gotten thinner, I wish my legs had leaned out more...i wish I wish and I wish. But I was at a place physically that a lot of people would probably have been proud to be... So therefore I cannot critique myself? NO. 4. But who is our biggest critique? OURSELVES. Both pictures are me. Both pictures show exactly how I have looked at myself and felt. Some days I feel good. Other days I feel fluffy. It's life. But just because I'm small, doesn't mean I can't be body positive. 5. Body positive means you support all body types and shapes. It means you accept yourself or you're learning to do so. HEALTHY or SKINNY? The happiest healthy version of yourself... wait what is that? What is right for me may be wrong for someone else. Living a healthy lifestyle is all about having a mindful mindset. It is not about looking skinny, fit, and lean. It’s not about your weight. Being healthy in body and mind is the long run the goal. Everyone is different. I naturally stay on the leaner side in my stomach and my junk in my trunk. I eat a lot and don’t gain weight because I have a fast metabolism. Other people may need to eat different or have a different body type. Being different is what makes you YOU! My way of living with a healthy mindful mindset is to be aware of what I eat. When I eat junk food I know I’m going a feel sluggish and get acne. If I eat fruit and protein I will have more energy. Same as when I don’t enough food I will be grumpy, get headaches, and feel weak. Being mindful of what I eat plays a big part in how I look on the outside and feel on the inside. Being the happiest healthiest version of myself means: 1. lifting weights and taking fitness classes 2. being aware of what I’m eating 3. Having a positive mind 4. Fitness doesn’t need to be overwhelming. Will you get in incredible shape if you count calories, do an hour of fasted cardio every day, meal prep and eat nothing but steamed veggies and unseasoned grilled chicken?? Absolutely! But for the majority of people in this world, that’s not realistic or sustainable as a long-term lifestyle. - I don’t do any of those things because, if I’m totally honest, I don’t want to. Instead, I work out consistently because I enjoy it. I go to the gym for one hour, 5-6 days a week. I eat healthy, mainly low fat, high protein and tons of fruit and veggies...but I’m eating chocolate almonds as i type this. 😆 A sustainable fit body is best achieved with consistency and a healthy mindset. - Above all, remember to not torture yourself. If you haven’t gone to the gym in three years, don’t go one time, do an insane HIIT workout, and then have to take the next five days off because you can’t walk. Start small, build good habits, and be patient. It takes time to see the results you want but trust that the changes are happening. I train and eat like a ‘warrior’, having the majority of my calories after my workouts. I make sure I eat quality food and get enough protein.
