⚪️ MEET RECAP ⚪️⁣ ⁣ My client Katie (@bekatielee ) competed in her FIRST ever powerlifting meet this weekend. 🎉⁣ ⁣ In February, Katie came to me with the goal of competing in a powerlifting meet. She wanted structure in her workouts, accountability, increased confidence and progress in her lifts. ⁣ ⁣ For about 3-4 months, Katie and I worked on getting her workout routine consistent as well as progressively adding weight to all 3 lifts. ⁣ ⁣ Katie ended up placing THIRD 🥉 in her division and PR’ed in all 3 lifts. She added 29kg/66lbs to her total and went 8/9 on her attempts. ⁣ ⁣ Katie not only accomplished her goal of competing in a powerlifting meet but was also able to grow mentally stronger and more confident in herself and her abilities. I am SO proud of all her hard work and dedication. Can’t wait for the next meet 💪🤩

How do u know yr growing as an athlete and a person? #acceptance In the past I would have torn my self-esteem to shreds if i couldn't finish a session or not done the weights/reps programmed. Labelled myself as a failure. But not anymore. My goal is to be proud of everything I accomplish and to find real joy in what I do in my life...in the gym/meet days, with my family, friends and clients and by myself . . Today was Day 1 of my new PL block. Lots of learning over the next 10 weeks. Low bar squats and sumo deadlifts to master. Coming off a week with gastro🤢 we had to strip the weights back but that's ok👌💪. Everything felt 15kgs heavier than what it should which is how much my coach wanted me to take off each load. Smart guy he is👍. . Played around with ✌️ kettlebells the other day! been feelin like i’m at a weird plateau for so freaking long - always had a struggle w eating enough cals so ive finally gotten into counting my macros & SNACKS y’all. i never ate snacks before just 3 meals a day & thought that was enough (my fave snack currently is banana with peanut butter & jelly smeared on it😹) - it’s been about 4 days since i started eating about 2800-2900 a day & i already just feel so much more energized and strong in the gym anyways that’s my rant for the week - eat snacks drink water - happy monday let’s get this shmonneeeyyyy 🤑🤑

ladies and gentlemen, I didn’t get to record today.. but you already know what time it is. 😎 . it’s monday, a new week for the #stronglifts5x5 program. and as illustrated when you swipe, you’ll see that I’m not doing so hot on the overhead press. . I’ve had shoulder mobility problems for over 5 years now. I can’t snatch, I can’t overhead squat, and I can’t even tell you why. I get these pains in my left shoulder randomly and it cracks like pop rocks in your mouth when I try to do a full arm rotation. I never considered it a *serious* problem that I couldn’t do a proper handstand or have my arms directly above my head, but now it’s impeding my training for real. It’s time to buck up and go to the doctor. 🤷🏽‍♀️ . anyway! . TODAY I DID: 5x5 squat @ 155lbs - last two sets I did at 160lbs 5x5 overhead press @ 55lbs - last two sets, 7 reps @ 45lbs 1x5 deadlift @ 160lbs - did a bonus set, 6 reps @ 165lbs . . I definitely feel like I don’t deadlift enough in this program 😅 however, I love the pace I’ve been able to keep with it in general so I try to keep the modifications low and simple. I might use one of my off days this week to do a little core. . 👏🏽 that’s a wrap!

Squat: 305 (+5) Bench: 180 (+5) Doesnt really count since my butt came off the bench. I'll get you next time. Deadlift: 315 (+15) 3 PLATE CLUB, FINALLY! Press: 115 (+10) Sitting around 138-142 bodyweight. I've been running a 9 week program from @bearfitathletics and it's been fun as heck, but I'm dying ahahaha. So much volume.
