I hate hearing, “I have ONLY lost__lbs” or “I JUST lost __lbs”! You are essentially putting your effort and hard work down. Telling yourself you’re just not good enough. Can you imagine telling a two year old that drew a self portrait that it sucked and just wasn’t great? “Aww hunny you still have A LOT of work to do on your drawing before it will make it to the fridge. You may just want to quit now.”. Unless you are heartless I don’t think any of us would do that. Instead we would point out the positives, “Hunny look you drew the eyes or you used such beautiful colors in your picture”. Because that’s how you foster growth. You provide POSITIVE feedback to promote progress and reinforce the good! You encourage! ———— We need to focus less on “how much further we have to go to goal” and more on how far we have come. And how far we have come may have NOTHING to do with the scale. How about how amazing it is that you have stuck to a lifestyle change for ___ day’s/weeks. How about going out to eat with friends and congratulating yourself for sticking to your diet instead of cheating? Focusing on all the times you made good healthy choices vs the few times you may have slipped up. ——— Many people forget that most diets/lifestyle changes are SO different then how we had been eating that you can not expect perfection over night. Just like you won’t get results overnight. Change takes time, patience, and consistency. Time to allow yourself to learn, adapt, and implement. Patience with yourself and the process. And consistency, day in and day out giving it your all. ———— The scale is not the only way to measure success. It doesn’t measure inches lost, it doesn’t measure health, and it doesn’t mention your hard work. Focus on how you feel, your body measurements, and your emotional well being. ———— If you follow your macros and eat within them(check out my highlights post on that if you are confused), eat WHOLE FOODS, and drink your water you WILL make progress and you will get to your goal!
