Sunday Runday! Actual time running was really 2 hours; these stats represent the entire duration that includes cool down walk for about 3/4 mile and the deuce detour I had to take about 9/12 miles into the run. If you are a runner and especially if you are a distance runner, then I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. For those of you who aren’t runners let me assure you that the following is a universal truth. If you run long enough, at some point in your training or running life, you will be out (likely when furthest from a public toilet) and have the strongest need to drop a deuce. This urge will persist and grow stronger with each stride until you come to the decision that you’ve got to find a toilet, a bush or some concealment and let nature take its course. Proof that it’s possible to get stronger as you get older! I’ll be 48 in a couple weeks 😱....yet I am lifting heavier than I ever have.😋 Don’t let your age create a mental roadblock. It is NEVER too late to get stronger. Getting older isn’t a death sentence! Im only getting better as I get older and I’m enjoying the ride😋 You get out what you put in. I strive to be stronger, I’m not striving for perfection (it doesn’t exist). I have learned: ✨ I will never achieve “the perfect body.” ✨I will always have cellulite... and no one gives a shit, but me. So why am I sweating it🤔? ✨I am not in competition with anyone but myself. ✨And ....I’m kind of a bad ass despite my age 🤗 and I plan to stay that way! 💪🏻 . . I have have found that I have a better squat with heels elevated. Was able to add 10lb more today. Not so easy to spot, but here is a case where the patient was experience low back pain during squatting, and in the before picture (left) it was clearly obvious that the lowback pain was caused due to improper form during the squat, but we had to figure out what was causing the dysfunction. . Upper extremity soft tissue restrictions were actually the biggest contributor to the patient not being able to maintain an erect position at the bottom of her squat. After getting the lats and subscapularis to relax in combination of some form tuning we were able to fix the compensatory motion of the lumbosacral region in just one session!

When you don’t take care of your soft tissue flexibility/extensibility and are long overdue for a little rehab. . This Tx was applied just it would on any other individual, but in this particular case this person developed an extensive amount of scar tissue and adhesions in his bicep that has now developed into shoulder pain during his lifts. . Post Tx results were decreased muscle tension (compared bilaterally), increased tissue extensibility, and improved AROM. It is expected to be sore from this following the next couple of days, and inflammation is expected, so must ice the heck out of this one!

INTENDED STIMULUS . The burn will get real. When we have a tabata protocol, the task is usually the same: maximize the work period. What we want is to use every second of work we can and rest only in the designated 10-second intervals. When you have something very manegable like an air squat tabata, you add speed. You go hard on each interval and try to get as many reps as possible. Today we have a mix scenario. In the back squats you will be able to hold on to the barbell, but going all out might not work very well. In the gymnastic movements might be hard to sustain the whole work interval, so you will end up breaking it here and there. And in the rowing you should push the pace. Definitiley different scenarios and strategies, but the same objective. Try to maximize the work load in the given work interval. With that in mind choose your loads and modifications. In the squats pick a weight for which you will not need to put the barbell down, ever. For the L-sit hold choose a variation you can keep up with at most one break per set. Mixing tuck holds and L-sit holds in the same set to get the full twenty seconds is a good option. For the ring rows flirt with failure, but never do reach it, a one second break goes a long way. In the Handstand Hold choose a level of assistance that is challenging but that you can hold on for the hole interval or with at most break. Today you want that place of burn, where you can hang out for a little while. That's where your want to be. Let it burn! Another case of tight soft tissue causing compensation in movement. Here this individual came to me for multiple cases of self-reported tightness that has been affecting their squat; highest priority in this session was calming down upper extremity dysfunction. . Prior to Tx client had restrictions in GH flexion with rib flare compensation in attempt to achieve full flexion (and still unsuccessful). Post post tissue release Tx allowed for better GH flexion as well as humeral rotation without rib flare compensatory motion in PROM. . Tx goals were successful and client reported feeling better afterwards!
