#formfirst Lunges are done in some form in almost every workout. Here’s how to make sure you are doing them correctly! 1️⃣ make sure your stance is long enough that you can get both knees 90 degrees without your knee going in front of your toes. 2️⃣ ensure feet are on railroad tracks and not balance beam. This will help with balance 3️⃣ engage core, and keep shoulders over hips as you lunge 4️⃣ weight should be in front heal, back toes 5️⃣ both knees should be bending to 90 degrees for full expression. You can always decrease range of lunge if you have joint issues. There you have it! If you are using proper form you are going to get so much more out of your workouts! #formfirst Another great move that people often do incorrectly. Pushups are an extremely difficult move in their full expression. I generally tell my clients, especially female to take modifications to ensure proper form. When you attempt a full push-up and your form is off you will likely be hurting your lower back, straining your neck and dumping into your shoulder joints. These are all areas that ppl tend to have issues with already. Proper Form for Push-Up 1. Hands shoulder width apart and directly under shoulders 2. Keep chin tucked 3. Slight tuck of pelvis to activate core and keep your hips from dipping. You are better off having hips higher than too low (protect your back!) 4. Ensure you are pressing your shoulders away from ears. This will keep work in muscles and out of joints. 5. Inhale as elbows bend, drawing forehead towards mat. Exhale as you press away. Remember - you are better to do a perfect modification ( on knees, table top, leaning against wall) than to do poor form of full option! #workthatbooty This is a simple and great sequence to activate and lift those glutes. All you need is a pilates ball and you can do it without if necessary. This sequence is all about control and intentional movement. Really focus on activating from the backside and not thrusting through the hips. 1. Start on your back with ball between thighs (not knees). Palms should be gently pressing into mat to activate triceps. Keep chin tucked! 2. Begin tucking pelvis until hips raise and glutes are active, bring half way down and activate up 10x 2. Then continue with tiny pulses, the smaller the better! Think about being at ur highest point and then tuck a 1/2” higher. 10x 3. Hold hips at highest point and using inner thighs squeeze ball in an inch and out an inch. 10x 4. Keeping hips elevated and LEVEL. Lift right leg, return and switch legs. 2x each leg. REPEAT ENTIRE SET 4x, you will definitely feel that booty burning! #properform #squats If anyone has worked with me they know what a stickler I am for form! I would rather you pump out 5 reps of perfect form than 25 of garbage. #smallsteps On the weekends I tend to eat and drink what I want (within reason 😬) That is how I balance my life between healthy and happy instead of healthy and jealous of that burger 🤤.. because I eat what I want most weekends I do my best to keep my weeks fairly clean. Primarily veggies and fruits, avoid process foods as much as possible. At this time in my life I often look forward to getting back into a healthy routine after a weekend or holiday. It’s crazy to think that there was a time in my life where I would have found eating so much veg as depriving myself of something.. now I see it as a reward and love how these delicious, real foods taste! It didn’t happen over night, it was a progression over time. Forever change does not happen quickly. It happens in tiny changes you may not notice until you look back at how far you have come! Be patient and take small steps. Allow yourself to acknowledge and celebrate these tiny wins and changes! #wins #slowandsteady This is one of my fav go to salads- it’s simple and perfect for meal prep. Ingredients- Butternut squash ( pre diced or whole) Harrissa Mozzarella Rocket Avocado Pomegranate seeds Olive oil Red wine vinegar Directions- Smoother squash In harissa & olive oil and roast at 400 F / 200C for 35 minutes. Allow to cool. Assemble salad- drizzle with red wine vinegar and olive oil. #Wednesdays got me like 😋 Tasty little brunch number. Arugula, over easy eggs, avocado, halloumi, asparagus, red chili flakes, olive oil, red wine vinegar! 🙌🏽🙌🏽. Protein, #healthy fats, greens, and #halloumi ✔️✔️ I have been doing #intermittentfasting (IF) for a while now and feel it works for me and my lifestyle. It’s not for everyone and should not be looked at as not starving yourself. I find that it helps me with my digestion and also can help reduce fat. It’s about having a window where you fast and a window when you eat. I happened to do 15 hours of fasting with a 9 hour eating window (15:9). So I generally eat my first meal around 11 and make sure that I finished dinner by 8 o’clock. This way I manage to get my workout in before I eat as I always found it difficult to eat anything before I worked out. I would often feel sick to my stomach if I eat before working out. 🤢 I still get in all my nutrients and necessary calories I just limit it to that nine hour window. I generally practice this 4 to 5 days a week. Weekends I do and eat pretty much what I want. 🙌🏽💪🏼 if you decide to give intermittent fasting a try don’t just dive in at once as it can leave you feeling tired, irritable and give you headaches. Start off with 12 to 12 ratio for a few days and then add an additional hour of fasting each day until you’ve reached a max of 16 to 8. Again this may not be for everyone and I don’t want anyone to interpret this as not eating. You are still to get in 3 meals just in a small window. Has anyone else tried IF with any luck?

#Selflove ❤️ I am regularly coaching this to my clients. People think their health is entirely dictated on how they look but forget that if you aren’t kind to your mind/soul you will never feel good enough, no matter what size or shape you are. Often times you need to get your mental health in the right place before any new health and fitness routines will stick. If you begin a new #fitnessjourney with an attitude of I hate my body you are likely to fail. However if you change your thinking to “I love my body and self enough to make it a priority” you are much more likely to be successful as you are making your health journey a reward and not a punishment. #routine 💪🏼 After 3 weeks of visitors we finally have the place back to ourselves. It was wonderful to catch up with all my people but it definitely takes a toll on your routine and personal #wellness. I have definitely put on some #lbs from all the additional eating and drinking! No worries tho 🙌🏽 Life comes with changes and you have to be ok with rolling with them. My wellness was out of balance for 3 weeks as I was indulging much more than usual but would not change a thing as it was about enjoying time with family and friends. I believe true well being is not about counting calories or depriving myself of the things I love. It’s about enjoying when I can and loving my body enough to commit to healthy meals and workouts on a regular basis. It was a wonderful reminder of how friendships can breath energy into your life. 🙏🏼 Healthy friendships provide laughter, support, an ear, or sometimes needed truth. Our well-being is tied to the company we keep. We have all had those relationships that seem to suck the energy out of you. I feel that as I getting older I am much more conscious of the company I keep. Realizing that life is too short to spend time with those that do not fill your cup.
