STRETCHING: Middle Splits Edition 👀👏 (make sure you LIKE 💛 & BOOKMARK this so you can get flexible this year!) . we hit front splits earlier this week…now it’s time for middle splits! 👏 these have always been the MOST challenging splits for me 🙇‍♀️. why? maybe because I hate stretching them, maybe because I hate stretching them I never do…whoops. That’s why I’ve designed this routine to ease into those “heavier” stretches, so by the time you get to a full split it’s not as brutal 😅. . ❗️Remember: always stay within a range of motion you can control and maintain proper form on - flexibility will come with time❗️ . THE WORKOUT: 1️⃣ rocking adductor stretch 2️⃣ rocking plié stretch 3️⃣ wall straddle 4️⃣ rocking frog pose 5️⃣ forward fold to split . "Что с тобой девочка...?" "Ты себе что-то сломала...?" "Фу! Это выглядит странно и неприятно.." "Я не могу прийти к вам заниматься, я так не гнусь..." Такие комментарии не так часты, но бывают Как вы считаете? Почему практики заворачиваются в баранний рог и пытаются принять какую-то "нереальную", для простого, смотрящего со стороны человека, позу, асану? Для понта?эффектной фотографии в инстаграме (сфоткал, сфоткал? На 2 секунды 😄) или каков в этом смысл? На своих семинарах я часто вижу практиков, которые пытаются во что бы то ни стало, любой ценой залезть в сложную, пока не покорившуюся, асану. Зачем? Это вопрос эго. "Как это я не могу? Я могу! Сейчас вы все увидите😄!" Но я продолжаю повторять одно и тоже: дорогие мои практикующие, асана и те ощущения, которые вы в ней испытываете являются ловушкой для внимания, а не причиной получения травмы! Если начинающий практик при обычном наклоне чувствует, как у него тянет заднюю поверхность ног и он с помощью дыхания пытается расслабить эту область и, в принципе, не способен уже размышлять о чем то другом- результат достигнут! Все! Счастливый человек! Цель практики на сегодняшний день достигнута. А если все его часовое занятие выстроено из подобных асан, то практика была эффективной. Но как раз таки для других практиков, которые в простых асанах уже думают о чем то другом, потому что ощущения- уже не ловушка для внимания, становятся нужны более сложные варианты, чтобы так и поймать это внимание и остановить поток мыслей. Вот и все. Все просто. Пожалуйста, берегите себя и не гонитесь за внешней формой, йога-это не спорт и не битва "звезд инстаграма" у кого узел круче. Йога- это глубокая работа над собой, в том числе и с вашим эго. Проще, не значит хуже. Volcano🌋❤️ • If you’re confused by the boot, I have something called Accessory Navicular Syndrome. It’s this piece of bone that didn’t fuse together properly with the Navicular bone so it’s not connected to it. When I would walk around school, or when I was at practice it would get really inflamed and swollen. It’s been hurting for several months but I thought it was nothing. I finally went to the doctors a few weeks ago and I found out what it was. They had me wear the brace (which you may have seen in multiple videos) but it still hurt to walk, and to do gymnastics. I then had another doctors appointment a few days ago and they said it’s best that I wear this boot. I don’t know how long I’ll have to wear it, but my next appointment is in 6-8 weeks. The only way to cure this is surgery which is definitely something I don’t want because I would be out of gymnastics for 6 months. But they are having me do something called laser therapy which helps decrease swelling. Before you freak out I’m still competing and practicing. The doctor just wants me to wear this while walking around school and at home, so when I have practice or competitions I wear the brace there are times wear it hurts with the brace but I can’t let it stop me from what I love do to. I’ll be filming in this boot more often but if my foot isn’t hurting I’ll try to film tumbling videos but they will most likely be simpler skills. Thank you guys for supporting me and what I do, and I hope you still enjoy my videos even though they will be easier skills❤️

Great turnout yesterday teaching a Mobility workshop at @breathe_studios with a bunch of cool people 😎 At the beginning of the workshop we did some biomechanic and movement tests, we then retested the same movements after 4 hours of mobility work across a range of joints and ranges. Caught in analysis paralysis? With the development of technology and scientific pursuits, it’s easy to get sucked into trying to optimize and tweak every single parameter of a pursuit before you start. But research will only get you so far because you can only know how other people have fared. It can’t 100% predict how YOU will fare. . You don’t have to understand everything to start! Do you expect basic algebra to go even remotely close to calculus? Higher level principles and ideas aren’t going to make sense if you don’t have the appropriate perspective to understand them-- perspective that you develop through experience. The problem isn’t a lack of information. The problem is not being able to USE this information. . I’m not advocating that you make up your own completely novel way of starting because, after all, this is the time you understand the least about your pursuit. Learn just enough to see how others ahead of you originally started, and see where that takes you. The downward dog is a great exercise to work on thoracic spine extension and shoulder flexion simultaneously for improved overhead mobility. Simple, yet extremely effective. To get the most out of this exercise, really drive your hands into the ground pushing yourself away from the ground. At the same time, utilize your upper back muscles to pull your spine into more extension. Think about staying as long as possible through your spine throughout the movement. Instead of getting into this position and holding for prolonged periods of time, get into the position for 2-3 seconds and come right out of it. Rep this out 10-15 times.
