I have been dieting & eating in a calorie deficit for the better part of 3 years. 3 FREAKING YEARS. I have been aiming for under 1350 calories. Skipping dessert 🚫Saying no thanks ✖️ Ordering a salad ✅ It honestly became like second nature to me. My mind set was the bigger the deficit the better. Less food = more weight loss 🎉 This is legit the only way I knew to get to my weight loss goals 🤷🏻‍♀️ I would get results but man I worked really fucking hard for them. Did it really need to be this tough??. . Over the years I would hear stories about those magical unicorns that eat 1800-2000+ calories & lose weight 🦄❓😱 I wished I could be like them, but honestly believed my body wasn’t built that way. My metabolism couldn’t do that ✖️✖️ Any time I ate over 1400-1500 calories I would put weight on 👎🏼. . Enter my coach @ash__lane 🙌🏼❤️ We spoke for months before I committed to working with her & before believing I could be one of those unicorns she told me so much about 🤣 She has taught me a lot & I know there is still so much more to come 🤓but what I have learnt is that by me restricting & eating so little - my body was constantly adapting to those numbers. My maintenance calories were continuously dropping bc my body was so used to eating so little ⬇️ No wonder the moment a challenge ended, xmas rolled around or any other time where I was “off plan” I stacked on the way FAST!! Our bodies are very smart, way smarter than we give them credit for & it of course got used to my 3 year deficit & unless I dropped my cals way below 1200 (which I am not willing to do ✖️) I would continue to struggle to lose weight & also have no fucking JOY in social plans or date nights 👎🏼 . . . So now with Ash we are doing what I have been so fearful of - EATING MORE! 🤯 We are slowly increasing my calories each week & reverse dieting. The plan is to up my maintenance cals so when I do my next cut, I am starting at 2300 calories as a maintenance level rather than 1500!!!! #hellyes 🎉🙌🏼❤️ So currently I am eating more & LOVING LIFE!!! The food is feeding my soul & I think my body is loving it too! I am 3 weeks in, 1.4kg down & on 1700 calories. Can confirm I am in actual HEAVEN 💫💕

On this rainy NYC day let’s talk about MOTIVATION. I think the hardest part is staying consistent and trying to keep motivation up to keep moving towards your goals. So here’s a few lil tips on how to stay on track: • • 🌞 Try to plan ahead of time when you’ll go to the gym. If it’s the morning go to bed early! If it’s after work pack your gym clothes and force yourself to go after work. I’m a morning person so if I don’t get it done in the morning it’s hard to get me there! Find what time of the day works best for you. • • 🌞 Don’t be afraid to treat yourself! Eating clean is important but it’s ok to indulge in order to not let restriction ruin your mental health and ideas about food. The one donut or the one piece of cake isn’t going to make you fat. Please ladies don’t be afraid! • • 🌞 Go to the gym with a buddy! I used to let all the muscular men in the free weight section scare me but now I don’t care! But in the early stages go with someone. They’ll help you feel more comfortable and double as an accountability buddy. • • 🌞 Take time to rest! Don’t burn yourself out. If you skip the gym 5 days in a row ITS OK. Catch up on sleep, get your self care in, bring those energy levels back up and head back in when your mind is on right! • • 🌞 Can’t stress enough how much of a mental challenge aspect there is to getting your physical health in order. All you gotta do is believe in yourself and trust the process. Last night my coach messaged me after I posted a pic in my stories saying she feels like my arms are changing 😍💪🏼 at the time I was thankful for the compliment but not sure if change could happen that quickly? But then this morning while I was doing my workout - I took some vids to show Ash my form & to film for my stories & holy shit I noticed a change too!! 🤩 They really are looking a little more toned!! 🥳 At first I was like Leigh are you making shit up? I watched the vids a few times & I really don’t think I am 😂 I am going to take some arm progress pics so I can see the difference over the coming weeks & months because I know they are bound to change so much more!! 🎉 . My workout program has 3 full body days + 1 focus day each week. When Ash asked me what area I wanted to focus on for that 1 sesh - we ended up deciding on arms because it is my weakest strength area, so maybe this all makes sense 💪🏼 I just feel like 3 weeks is too fast for my body to change. But I have nothing to compare this process to. No past experience to call on. This is all brand new for me so I should probably stop doubting the process & just embrace all the sweet change!! 🙌🏼⭐️💕

Le #beexfit , en quelques mots c’est : Calculer ses calories sur la journée, tout en étant suivi par deux coaches 🏋️‍♂️. Ce sont eux qui vont déterminer le nombre de calories journalier (via une formule scientifique et aux informations que nous l’aurons donné au préalable). Ce sont également des professionnels en nutrition 👩‍💻. Le but, ce n’est pas de faire un régime mais un rééquilibrage alimentaire 🍎. Nous mangeons donc de tout et a notre faim 😋. . En plus du programme de nutrition, ils ont un programme sportif que nous pouvons suivre soit à la maison soit en salle. 🏋️‍♀️ . This 👈🏼 was my first ever starting photo. It was well before BBG, this insta, the time where I started & never stopped 📸🔙 It was January 2015. I was about to start the Michelle Bridges 12 week challenge. My plan was to eat 1200 calories each day & do her workouts daily💧💪🏼🍽 I didn’t finish the challenge, I didn’t lose much weight ✖️ I gave up after a couple of weeks. That kind of behaviour was my norm. I would feel super motivated & then slowly lose the drive & the fire ⬇️🔥 This was the pattern I had been in for years 🌀. . . I don’t see any of that as failure though - because I kept on trying. I kept on picking myself up, dusting myself off & giving it another shot 🤞🏼 My method to start with probably wasn’t the best but so much of this thing is trial & error - you need to learn what works for you & adapt & change as you go. If I didn’t start/stop/start all those years ago, it wouldn’t have lead me to where I am now 📍.. . I love how exciting & hopeful day 1 is 😍 You have your shit planned, you smash your Monday goals & your hopes are sky high that THIS will be it!! ✨ This will be the time it works 🙌🏼 Whether it is this time or not - I hope we all keep on having these day 1’s. No matter how many times we re-start, the point is that we keep trying. Eventually you will learn enough & something will stick. I can’t count the amount of Monday’s I had with my heart full of hope that I would FINALLY lose weight. Many many Monday’s later (or in this case #transformationtuesday’s) here I am - still trying, still learning but a hell of a long way from where I started 🤩🎉❤️ So here’s to any of you on your fresh start 🥂 We got this xxx

Happy Monday 🌈 & happy week 3️⃣ of my new fit life 😂 I have been banging on about it so much, so you all know I am loving life on this reverse diet & new lifting program with my coach @ash__lane 🤗❤️🏋🏻‍♀️ When I started working with Ash the thought of eating more food & working out less (less frequently & less intensely - no cardio!!! 🚫🚫🚫) TERRIFIED me 😳 but when I finally decided to join Ash, I also made the decision to trust the process 🙌🏼 I knew I may gain weight & my weight loss may stall - I mean I was eating at least 300 calories more than I was used to every single day 🤯. . Monday’s are my weigh in day & this morn I jumped on, hopeful but feeling positive no matter what faced me. . Week 1: ⬇️ 600g Week 2: ⬇️ 800g . I’m sorry whaaaat? 🎉🙏🏼 Honestly even if the scale didn’t move today, I would still be stoked because I am 💯 invested in this new process & my new way of changing my body 🙌🏼 But as you can imagine a loss 2 weeks in a row is a really good feeling!! ❤️. . Before I left for Africa I was knee deep in the F45 challenge 🔵🔴⚪️ Eating 1300 calories & working out 6 days per week 💧& I was not losing a bloody thing 🙅🏻‍♀️ I was in a plateau & my body was not responding. It was OVER IT! I didn’t need another reminder that this is the right thing for me (honestly I feel like these signs are whacking me in the face daily 😂) but it was a lovely start to my day! Here’s to a fresh week babes!! 💪🏼💕😘
