The beauty of fitness is not only the increase in your physical health but also the increase in your mental/emotional health, what you learn about yourself and the healthy habits you pick up along the way. ✨Before I head onto the floor for my workout, I write in my journal, affirming over my life and setting goals. ✨When I get on the floor, I meditate for 3-5 minutes. I’ve found that it puts me in a perfect headspace to hit my workouts with all I have. ✨I listen to motivational speeches. Tree pose 🌲 or 𝘝𝘳𝘬𝘴𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘢 is a grounding pose that was designed to strengthen your thighs, calves, ankles and spine. It helps with sciatica which I suffer with on a daily basis. It’s also a pose I’ve loved since I started practicing yoga, and has helped with my balance 🙏🏽⁣ ⁣ It’s Day 1️⃣ of the #YogiAloha challenge with my girls @ashley_the_fit_yogi and @amandaalohayoga and I could not be more excited to be a part of it. There’s some poses I’ve never tried before so fingers crossed for ya girl this week! 🤞🏽⁣ ⁣ It’s also #PlasticFreeJuly and I’m trying to be more conscious about the products I buy and how they contribute to helping save the world. One way I do this is by always having a reusable stainless steel water bottle with me. Headed out for date night with my gorgeous husband on Thursday 🥰 I tried on SO many clothes to try and find something that fits over the gains...👀 it’s easy to get hung up on what doesn’t fit anymore - especially being a girl! The important thing to remember is that my body has changed in many ways, but for the better. I’ve worked hard in the gym for what I’ve achieved and I’ve loved every second of the process. The biggest change though has been the mental strength I’ve gained - the gains that aren’t visible to the naked eye. You can’t see the smile I wear on my heart for how I am as a woman now compared with who I once was. I was a shadow of the woman I am today and this woman is proud of every single part of her body!! 🙌🏾 I didn’t have a very good relationship with my body, food, my head, myself in general. Now, to see me, you’d say “oh she loves herself” and you’d be damn right too!! Not in a big headed “I’m the best thing ever” kind of way but in a “if I don’t love myself, why should anyone else?” Kind of way! I have learnt that self love is a very selfless act and being selfish isn’t always selfish and that I matter, so bloody much! ❤️ I have this idea that I want to leave the world a better place than it was when I arrived and I want to try and help as many people as possible, I think if we try together, we can remove the stigma around loving yourself. If you try one new thing this week, let it be some acts of self love. Vacation Spam Coming Your Way⁣ •⁣ The more vacations I take, the more I learn how to control what I eat and maintain the way that I feel. A couple of years ago I would've inhaled everything in sight at the buffet because why not, it's there for a reason right?!⁣ •⁣ Eh. ⁣ Right and wrong. Don't limit yourself but don't also overdo it. I hated feeling bloated or not sexy in the clothes I packed two days into vacation⁣ •⁣ So this time I kept my carbs low, ate a lot of protein for breakfast, worked out and ordered diet cokes half the time. It worked out beautifully⁣ •⁣ I'm going to be loosely tracking my macros for the next week or so then I'll figure out what my next step will be as it pertains to my fitness goals.⁣ •⁣ As for now I'll be here to enjoy eating some cheese puffs on a Monday because I would never do that before.
