So the craziest thing is: I was more unhappy with my body after losing my first 100 pounds than I was when I started. I started criticizing myself more. I started nitpicking myself to death. I got in the habit of saying: I’ll be happy when... I’ll have confidence when... I’ll love myself when... But the funny thing about “when” is it never comes. Self love is a daily choice. A clear decision to say: I don’t care how far I have to go, I’m going to love where I am right now. I’m going to embrace my struggles. I’m going to push through my failures...no matter what. I think sometimes we think that if we HATE ourselves enough, maybe we will be determined to take action. But self-love never starts from a place of hatred. It starts from a place of acceptance. Don’t be down on yourself if you aren’t where you want to be. Even if you feel broken... Even if you feel lost... You just have to start...

My hamstrings are where I struggle the most to build muscle, I’ve got those soccer legs and am soooooo quad dominant it’s dumb😭 but I have been noticing some lil baby growth and I’m SO HAPPY, I’ll be posting a body update for everyone soon♥️ ——— •First exercise: HIP ABDUCTOR MACHINE: 🍑: 20 squatting, 20 at the edge of your seat, and 20 all the way back, that’s one rep! (x5) 🔥 they BURN SO NICE🤤 if you need to adjust the weight for each exercise that’s fine too! Change “WHY” to “WHAT.” I listened to an interesting Ted Talk yesterday on my way to work where the speaker basically said that asking “why” something happened to us or why someone doesn’t like us can get dangerous and sometimes we will NEVER come to understand the answers. The real question to ask is.... WHAT. What are you going to do about it? Sometimes we (and by “we” I definitely am pointing at myself), get so wrapped up in trying to understand why, that we fail to take action and move forward. 💥LET’S GET SUMMER READY💥 _ Step ONE: You need to find out what your maintenance calories are. This is how many calories you’d need to eat in one day to stay the same as you are right now… _ Step TWO: You need to put yourself in a proper caloric deficit. The easiest way for you to start this process is to take your body weight in lbs x 10/11. _ Step THREE: You want to put your macro’s at 50% Protein - 30% Carbs - 20% Fats - After you are in a caloric deficit, MACROS would be the MOST important aspect. _ 💥 But are you really ready to change your day to day life and start the process of getting health? Like READY READY? I mean, nothing will get into your way to get into the best shape you have ever been in? If this is your, keep on reading. _ 🚫 Stop the fad diets that have a destination that is the NEXT big thing. Anything that has a destination doesn’t work. And DO NOT cut out food groups. Your body needs PROTEINS, CARBS, AND FATS. _ 👉🏽 Track your Macro’s daily (Try Lost it or MyFitnessPal) AND make sure you are in a caloric deficit. _ 🚫 Cardio is great, but when you are doing too much, it will start burning your muscle. 30 Minutes a day 4/5 times a week will do you wonders. _ 👉🏽: LIFT weights!!! When you’re building strength, you are building muscle too. Muscle HELPS burn your fat. _ Cardio TIP: If you are going to do cardio at all, I recommend doing HIIT (high intensity interval training) cardio over low-intensity cardio. I love these trails. But some days are harder than others. 🏃🏻‍♀️ Getting started on a new program is always tough for me and in the beginning, it’s all about forcing myself to go... forcing myself into some new behaviors. I never regret it once I’m there. ⛰ I keep reminding myself that the first few weeks are always hard, and then it will become habit and my body will start craving the workouts. And until then, ‘my-athlete-self’ will be fighting ‘my-lazy-self’ every step of the way. 💪🏻

Happy Friday ya'll!! And as usual, I'm here to share one of the things I'm totally loving right now for #favethingsfriday 🙌🏻 ... Between gym training sessions and running, I spend a ton of time jamming out with headphones. I guess it's no wonder that I get asked all the time which bluetooth headphones I recommend. After all, I've had several pairs and have certainly put them to the test. ... So here they are, my favorites: the @plantronics BackBeat FIT Wireless Headphones. Let me tell you why I love them. ... First, they actually stay on my head and they don't make my ear holes miserable. This is so important. ... Second, they are super durable and stand up to even the sweatiest workouts without any slippage or distortion. ... Third, they've seen many hours of play and still haven't died. This shouldn't be a big deal but other brands I've tried have died after 6 months of my typical (admittedly heavy) use --- including one pair that died in the middle of a marathon ... horrible timing. Way to leave me hanging, stupid cheap headphones! ... Fourth, the battery life in these suckers is amazeballs. I'm notoriously terrible at charging things so it helps that these guys give me a few days of wear before needing a charge. ... Fifth, the controls don't require you to be a rocket scientist. Fun fact, I'm also not great with figuring out control on electronics but I figured these out without even reading the little instruction book. ... I've actually owned two pairs of these now. I lost my first pair at the start line of the Chicago Marathon last Fall. It's a very sad story. I was being careless and during the security check, I must have dropped them. Someone got a really great pair of headphones from me ... much to my dismay. ... I ran that marathon sans music and immediately ordered another pair once the race was over. That's how much I loved them - without batting an eye at the price or spending time considering other options, I replaced them in a flash. ... If you're looking for a great pair of Bluetooth headphones to get you through your workouts, grab yourself a pair of these. They are so so worth it!
