Do you agree? ➖ 🥞 Link in bio if you missed yesterday’s upload & article on REFEED days ➖ On that note, let’s discuss the infamous Insta “bloat pictures”. Everyone (no matter how much of a shredded god you are) experiences a food baby after a meal on a DAILY basis with many famous “fitfammers” labelling it as a “bloat” whereas most of the time that isn’t the case. Bloating vs distension? ➖ According to Seo et al (2013) bloating is defined as “subjective discomfort by patient's sensation of intestinal gas” thus, if you are not experiencing pain/discomfort, you’re not bloated. What you’re experiencing instead is abdominal distension which is simply a visible increase in abdominal girth. While in the past the 2 (bloating & distension) were considered to be related, recent studies show otherwise (Hernández 2011). So most of these “bloat pics” on IG are completely fake with the people posting them knowing that what they are actually experiencing is distension as a result of having eaten/drank something. What do I mean? ➖ Well, distension is EASY to achieve as all it requires is increasing intraabdominal volume. How do you do that? Swallow more air, ingest food, drink liquid, retain some poop/gas or experience the menstrual cycle (Sullivan 2012). In fact, the main reason you see more female “bloat” pics on Insta (apart from them getting lots of likes as they’re usually taken half naked) is because women are far more prone to experiencing distention than men due to having ~10cm longer intestines (Hamblin 2013). Longer intestine = more area for food/fluid/gas blockage & thus distension ➖ Conclusion: IG will & always will be the highly realm of people’s physiques but let me tell you this, what you see in pics is never reality as they’re under “optimal”, unrealistic conditions. What is reality however, is the pic on the right as, once you eat a meal & drink some water, you’ll automatically increase intraabdominal volume & thus look semi pregnant but there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s reality & as we all know, goes away overnight or in the hrs after

A #gym like in the Resort: @reefoasis.bluebay / @reefoasis_bb is a plus. As you maybe experienced, many hotels have unhygienic studios with defective machines or even worse... they have no gym. The Gym here is: + ok for small workout sessions during vacation. + clean and has good working training stations. @technogym - not made for heavy training sessions +++ Fazit: +++ So far the best gym I’ve seen in a hotel / holiday resort. It is definitely better than having no gym or one that has bad equipment. +++ End +++ Hashtags / Werbung / Markenennung #love #instagood #fitcouple #couplegoals #follow #bodybuilding #photooftheday #fitness #followme #beautiful #happy #picoftheday #instadaily #food #amazing #gym #training #fitfam #girlfriend #bestoftheday #healthy #sharmelsheikh #friends #instamood #selfie #lifestyle #webstagram #instago #vacation

Truth 💣 from the one and only @cartergood . . . - About a year ago, I got an email from a disgruntled lady explaining why everything I post on IG is dishonest... ⠀ “All you do is drink wine and eat pizza. How is that promoting health? You’re lying to your followers and you should be ashamed of yourself.” ⠀ I kept my cool and explained that, no... I didn’t always drink wine and eat pizza. MOST of the time I’m eating whole, nutritious foods and making mindful portion choices. ⠀ Then she came back with, “well, you don’t know what it’s like to struggle. You have amazing genetics.” ⠀ That email reply got my panties in a bit of a bunch... ⠀ Sure, some people have it worse than me, but I absolutely struggled, and I definitely don’t have the worlds best genetics. ⠀ I struggled with my weight my entire life. It took me years and years of hard work to get to where I am today. ⠀ So for someone to say I don’t know what it’s like to struggle, or that I somehow had it “easy,” pissed me right off. ⠀ Don’t worry, I got over it ;) ⠀ And don’t worry, I have a point to make ;) ⠀ My point —> Behind every transformation is a staircase of struggles, sacrifices, mistakes, battle scars, and hard lessons learned. ⠀ Yes, it’s inspiring, but not because of the results. ⠀ ⠀ What’s inspiring is everything it took to get there! ⠀ If you’re struggling right now, realize that your struggle it’s 100% normal. ⠀ Your struggle is a sign of growth. ⠀ Keep fighting 💪 — ⠀ . . #persevereoveryourobstacles #fitness #fitnessmotivation #fitfam #lvac #eos #motivation #weightlifting #neversettle #crossfit #weightloss #powerlifting #bodybuilding #dedication #gym #track #run #hike #sports #habits #personaltrainer #1stphorm #1stphormathletesearch #iam1stphorm #aspire to #inspire before you expire.

3 days post competition shape💪I don't look like I competed 3 days ago, but shows that what I went through last week is not NORMAL or MAINTAINABLE. My water intake was cut throughout the week as well as my calorie intake. First week post competition is probably the most vulnerable phase where you're trying to get back into normal life but feel lost because you don't want the post competition rebound of gaining 20 lbs. Since this is not my first rodeo, I decided it's best to stick with my coaches for the next 12 weeks to guide me with reverse then to lifestyle. @teamedge1 #teamedge1 #edgebooty #npcbikini #npc #bodybuilding #bikini #fitfam #fitspo #fitnesslife #fitness #fitmom #fitkoreanmom #fitover35 #postcompetition #22monthspostpartum

I've struggled a lot with my message or my "health perspective." On the one hand I want to support fitness, exercise, and nutrition, and I myself enjoy the process of working my body into a certain shape and creating muscle tone and definition. On the other hand, I emphasize "body positivity", meaning that I hate the way society has convinced us that only one way of being is beautiful. I see a lot of posts on both sides of the fence that are critical or that make a counter-argument to the other side. There are the extreme fitness-focused people who believe EVERYONE should be eating certain foods and not others and that everyone should be exercising a certain amount or they're called "lazy", and that everyone should look a certain way (despite genetics, aging, medical/physiological factors, etc.) The term "fat-shaming" comes to mind a lot when I read these posts, and I find them highly inappropriate, unnecessary, and not helpful at all for someone who may already be feeling outcast from society. On the other side there are the body-positive extremists (yes, despite the word "positive" I believe sometimes this gets taken to an extent that is critical and inappropriate as well). Body-positive extremists attack people who do celebrate weight-loss victories or who applaud themselves for achieving visible physical changes like increased muscle definition. A certain meme comes to mind I certainly hover somewhere in the middle of these two extremes. I think it's perfectly ok to have an idea of what type of body looks best for you and to WANT that. It's no different than putting on makeup or doing your hair a certain way because you LIKE it. Not because you have to in order to be accepted by society but because it's aesthetically pleasing to you. I also think it's ok to want to make adjustments to diet and exercise because it's good for you and because it FEELS good. If you want to celebrate your victories, whether it's how your physical appearance has changed, how much weight you can lift, how far you can run, or just how good you feel...all of that is reason to celebrate!
