Don’t neglect your recovery like me😭 ⠀ Reality is: if you’re not recovering properly, your training is useless!💁🏽‍♀️The damage is done in the gym, but the muscle is built while you’re resting ⠀ My recovery and range of motion wasn’t feeling optimized, I wasn’t getting a good pump during my workouts, and quite honestly I felt like an old lady🤶🏽 I reached out to @performaxptw for muscle scraping (Graston technique) to see if it would help me and HOLYYYY MOLY👏🏼 ⠀ Think of your muscles as super tight coils when their trained 🏋🏽‍♀️ What the scraping does is break up and loosen your muscle fibers. This increases blood flow, oxygen & nutrient delivery, which in turn promotes recovery, pump, and quality of workout💪🏽 ⠀ Other ways to increase recovery include: ✖️Epsom salt baths ✖️WATER! ✖️Nutrient-dense diet ✖️Adequate protein ✖️Stretching/foam rolling ⠀ And yes, it hurts like a bitch lol (just looking at this video hurts LMAO) but SO worth it. 4 years and 4 very different versions of the same consistently changing little human. If I asked you to tell me in which photo I look the healthiest which one would you say? In all honesty, I probably couldn’t answer that myself. In fact I don’t think I’ve ever been at a stage where I am the “healthiest” I could be. I’m still learning what that looks like for me. - In the first photo my lifestyle was one filled with binge drinking and eating. I was chronically inactive and turned to food during difficult times in my family life. After finishing school I had put on a lot of weight with my newer more sedentary lifestyle and the addition of nights of drinking. I was far from healthy both mentally and physically. - Photo two may look like a picture of health. However, this was the stage when I lost my menstrual cycle. I was without it for some time. Coupled with that my mental health suffered as a result of being completely obsessed with tracking every morsel of food that I ate, and insistence on not missing a single workout. - Photo three was during my recovery from amenhorrea. I was pushing 3000 calories a day with no formal exercise. Shortly after this photo I got my first period in several years. Despite my physical health looking up, my head was in a place of complete discomfort in my appearance. I felt like I was living in someone else’s body. - The last photo is the most recent. I am exercising and eating well. I have been getting periods, although they are not yet regular. My head is in a much better place, but I still have a lot to work on in improving my relationship with food. I can safely say I feel comfortable and proud of the way my body looks. I did a photo shoot in this body, and I felt absolutely amazing. - Bodies are supposed to change. Life has its seasons, priorities change and bodies don’t look the same throughout. That’s normal. That’s just life. Be gentle with yourself. Abs don’t have to be visible 12 months of the year. You’re allowed to have a “bigger” wardrobe and a “smaller” wardrobe. Let’s take the pressure off ourselves to be our smallest version every day of the year.

Almost 6 months exactly! ——— Counting macros with Cali has completely changed my fitness journey and taught me more than I ever thought possible about myself and food and what it means to “diet”. Macro counting is the first “diet” which is now my lifestyle I have ever been able to stick with past a few weeks, especially with feeding my whole family and 2 toddlers! I am never deprived, certainly never hungry, and am “allowed” to eat anything as long as I keep myself accountable. And if I’m not 100%, it’s okay because I’m not perfect thats life and I just start over the next day. I have done 3 complete challenges with Cali and can not WAIT to be apart of the new challenge in January. I’ll also be helping in the private Facebook group to answer any questions I can! Our shoulders are just like our knees they go through so much through our daily routines in life inside and outside the gym. ▫️▫️▫️ ◾️EZ bar Lateral Raises 🔺Grab a light pre-weighted EZ bar, I grabbed a 20lb one. 🔺Grab a grounded object with the hand you’re not using for the workout and lean to the opposite side. 🔺Gripping the middle of the bar, raise it laterally and make sure to balance the bar so it does not sway on either side. 🔺Go for 10-12 reps for 5 sets ▫️▫️▫️ ◾️This workout is one of my top picks when it comes to promoting grip strength and shoulder stability. ▫️▫️▫️ Let me know how you like this workout! A huge client shout out to suletteklopper who in her first ever experience of competing in a CrossFit competition came 2nd! _ Sue is on a comeback to being a competitive athlete after battling with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome so managing her output, recovery and nutrition has been a huge task. But going from barely being able to eat or do any kind of physical activity along with feeling the need to sleep all the time to being able to tackle this at the weekend shows just how far she has come. _ Not only that but now that we’ve got better control of what and how much food she can stomach without feeling any kind of nausea we are starting to see positive body composition changes too.
