A funny thing happened on my run yesterday. I was doing a timed run. I only had about a minute left and I felt like I was going to collapse, I couldn't wait for that minute to be over. Then the song on my playlist changed and one of my favorites that always gets me hyped up came on. It was like a flip switched on my body. My breathing relaxed, my heart rate slowed, my legs quit shaking and I felt like I wasn't even close to being at my max; that I could keep going for way longer. When just seconds before, I was certain my body was giving up on me, but it hadn't, it wasn't even close. My mind had given up. There's a misconception that getting in shape is a physical challenge, but it's not. It's a mental challenge. Your MIND gives up long before your body does. Your mind will try to convince you to quit, that you can't do anymore. It will come up with a hundred reasons why you should quit. You're tired. Your body hurts. You can't take one more step. The real progress comes when you push past all of that. Working out is not just about the physical. You're callusing my mind. You're teaching yourself that you are capable of much more than you could have ever imagined. That you do not give up the second the opportunity to quit presents itself. This is why you go on the days you least want to. Those aren't going to be the best workouts, but those are going to be the most important. You're building discipline. You're building habit. You are building a mindset for success in all aspects of life. It doesn't happen all at once. It's about being 1% better than you were yesterday. So do me a favor the next time you're working out. When you think you absolutely can't go anymore - do one more set, run one more mile. Don't think about it, don't allow yourself to make an excuse why you can't, do it any way and see what happens.

"Dont stop when you are tired, Stop when you are done."😎 I had to keep saying this in my head tonight! I was tired the moment I walked through the door, literally thought about walking back out. But I pepped talked myself through my whole workout 🤓 and got probably the best shoulder pump I've had in a hot minute and got 5 whole minutes of EXTRA cardio in. 😊 it's the small victories you gotta celebrate sometimes! 🤗

Tonight was my last leg day as a 34yr old! Tomorrow is my 35th year of life and I’m excited for the growth in my next year of life. Growth as a woman, growth as a wife, growth as a mother, growth in the gym/fitness journey and growth in my career as a hairstylist. Growth can be uncomfortable because you’ve never been where you’re going and you’ve never been who you’ll become. But growth doesn’t come in your comfort zone.
