~ Super Sexy Spine Stuff ~ ▼ Nope. But for me personally, a super effective setup to continue working lumbar spine segmentation without hinging into my weak link at the lumbothoracic junction. ▼ Why. The ball provides a great irradiation feedback tool to squeeze out more lumbar flexion in each vertebrae for better control in both the progressive (spinals) and regressive tissues (abs, obliques, diaphragm and all that stuff in front). As well as encourage and provide additional feedback and resistance for the thoracic spine while trying to segment and press each vertebrae into the ball for a better distributed extension. 🎥 Sped up x3 ▼ There are many great setups for varied specific intents. I know I posted some similar exercises some days ago but with the pilates ball in the hollow of your knee you can train your hamstrings very good too. It is amazing how the focus of an exercise may change by doing it without a prop, with a prop or with a different one. Sitting on the ball today for #fitballfriday @lisakayepilates and feeling very pregnant!!! Had to be sitting on the ball today as my lower back was feeling pretty sore; think the weight through my front with this bump has had a growth spurt! This was not as easy as it looks! Balancing on the ball while working quads on one leg at a time was proving a challenge for me! Especially when it came to using my bad foot to stabilise on- you can see I had to put that right foot back down to the ground each time to stabilise myself! It was good to strengthen the bad leg though! ‘FIRM FRIDAY’ #FitFunPilates Swipe 👈 ▪️▫️ Today’s series challenges stem from the use of the #foamroller and #fitball I’m also using 5 kilo (11 lb) dumbbells. 💪 ▪️▫️ Following on from yesterday’s post on stability and balance training, these two props together definitely fall into those two categories.😊 ▪️▫️ To increase muscular activation at the joint, we can improve the way we move and build strength safely.👌 ▪️▫️ These exercises work prime movers, but also hit those stabilizers for a well rounded session. 💥 ▪️▫️ Workout 👇 1️⃣ Single reverse fly + side plank. Targets post deltoid, traps, rhomboids, core and obliques.💪 2️⃣ Press-ups on the roller & ball targets pectoral muscles, anterior deltoid, shoulder stabilizers, core, and posterior chain. 💪 3️⃣ The dumbbell pullover works the pectoral muscles, latissimus dorsi, triceps and abdominal muscles. Oh Swiss ball how I’ve missed you - not like my spin bike 😂😂 can you see it sulking in the corner 😂😂😂. . I’ve been waiting and waiting for my abs to heal so I can get back on it as I LOVE LOVE my swiss balls 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 . #surgerytostrong on this glorious ab day is for another Aussie galpal @lisakayepilates . I thought my return to swissball should be dedicated to her #fitballfriday 💜👏🏻. Keeping it very Aussie this week 💜 . If you remember some weeks back when I tried to rotate to my left (the side my kidney came out ) I nearly went through the roof but I’m happy to say I moved slowly through Cossack rotation pain free 👏🏻👏🏻. The power of the healing body continues to amaze me 💜 . I’ve thrown in some basic TA lifts so necessary for abdominal strength and core balance and some gentle pelvic tilt rolls 💜 . No neck or abdominal pain but golly those abs fatigued FAST ! . When healing it’s so important NOT to push through more reps but to pause and rest as invariably another larger muscle group such as your low back or neck will take over when the abdominals are at fail - SLOW - STEADY - and SMALL REPS .
