Train the same, remain the same. 🙈 If you're looking to improve, get stronger, get faster, or whatever, you have to push those limits. You've got to challenge yourself. You've got to get uncomfortable and do hard things. . 35# dumbbell snatches are outside my comfort zone. In fact, they're stupid hard - especially on my left side. 😰 I initially grabbed a 25# DB for this workout but then I thought better of it. I'm trying to get stronger, not stay right where I am. 💪 Made it through 3 complete rounds (9 burpee pull-ups, 18 DB snatches - 9 each arm, and 27 ab mat sit-ups) and I'm much happier with myself for pushing it. 🏋️‍♀️ . Hot flushes, crazy mood swings, brain fog .... is this you? To navigate hormone hell and the menopausal minefield, it's so important to eat a combination of foods that give you the macro and micro nutrients that your hormones need as well as the essential phytonutrients that will boost their performance. Here are a few tips if you are suffering with hormone chaos: Eat low GL foods, e.g: fruit, veg, whole grains, beans, pulses, organic meat, organic fish, happy eggs, nuts, seeds - they release sugar more slowly into the blood which helps to keep blood sugar levels stable. It avoids excess insulin in your system which can disrupt your other hormones and cause symptoms such as cravings, PMS, fatigue, brain fog and mood swings. It also helps to reduce your fat stores! Insulin is your fat storing hormone! Eat as many varieties and colours of vegetables as possible! They will supply you with vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients and fibre. Fill half your plate with colourful veg at each meal and rotate often. Cruciferous veg are super helpful for your hormones especially your oestrogen. They contain indole 3 carbinol which helps metabolize and eliminate excess oestrogen which can contribute towards PCOS, fibroids, endometriosis, breast and ovarian cancer. Cruciferous veg include broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, collard greens, kale, rocket, watercress, radish, Brussels sprouts. Eat whole grains to give you plenty of fibre to protect you from the blood sugar roller coaster which also helps to reduce insulin and fat storing! It helps you get rid of waste, toxins and excess oestrogen. Aim for a minimum of 35 g of fibre a day. Eat plenty of good fats: nuts, seeds, olives, avocado, oily fish, organic dairy, eggs, organic meat, olive oil, coconut oil. These fats are essential for the production, storage and transport of your hormones. You also need fat in your food to absorb the vitamins that are fat soluble: a, d, e and k. Failure is a part of life. If things were easy and didn't take time, lots of hard work, and dedication to achieve, everyone would do them - and do them well. Or, maybe they wouldn't because it's too easy? 🤔 . CrossFit Open workout 19.4 included bar muscle ups. I do not have bar muscle ups. 🙊 But, I did well enough in the first part of the workout (65# snatches 🏋🏼‍♀️ and bar-facing burpees) that I had 2 1/2 minutes (after a mandatory 3 minute rest) to try to get at least one. I tried, and failed, several times. 🤦 Swipe to see my desperation. 😂 Shout out to @bsteffs for trying to coach me through them in the moment. 🙌 . Ladies and gentleman, give me time.
