hey it's just yoga⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ so SMILE ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ one of my favourite things to do in a difficult pose is smile. as i plaster what must be a perfectly charming and natural-looking smile on my face, i am hitting the reset button from all the mindless fragments, the internal dialogue: was that alignment cue meant for me? be on the safe side. just do it. teacher said ten breaths. i feel like it’s been ten breaths now. is anyone going to say something? cowards. i made eye contact again with that person. i really have to stop staring at them...but i can’t help it. am i breathing? teacher coming. interesting, they are adjusting the person next to me. they walked past me. is that good. ⠀ ⁠⠀ that little smile conditions me to return to what is important, and that is my intention. to respect and accept the spirit of each pose whether i like it or hate it because of how it makes me feel, whether it’s easy for me to get into or one i need numerous warm-ups to even think about trying 😳 everybody's bodies are different, and that's awesome. smooth those thought wrinkles from your mind. practice your asanas with the same grit, all that same good energy.

It's funny how quickly priorities shift. For the past week all I had in my mind was work until Goran's mom, who was watching Aria while I was fiddling around with that business plan, called and said Aria is running a fever. 🤒 Instantaneously I forgot about all the work waiting for me, and all that mattered was that Aria is home with me. She's a healthy kid, this is her 3rd fever in her entire life, and although I know it's nothing, I still woke up like 5 times just to feel her forehead 🙈 I can't help but laugh at myself and how worried I was about a stupid business plan 😂 Because, seriously, the only thing that really matters is health. It's the foundation. Without it, nothing matters. And I'm just like most humans, taking it for granted until a little fever rattles my world. 😶 So, I just want to take a moment to be grateful for my and my family's health. Aria will be completely healthy by tomorrow but I hope I remember this lesson the next time I start stressing. ✌😊 . . . . Day 18 LOVE YOUR PELVIC FLOOR ♥️ Dynamic Half-Butterfly (or Reclined Clam-Shells) . . BENEFITS: Stimulates abdominal organs like ovaries, prostate gland, bladder and kidneys. Stretches the inner thighs, groin, and knees. Helps relieve the symptoms of stress, mild depression, menstruation and menopause. Stabilizes pelvis. Balances the muscular effort between the inner and outer thighs and the pelvic floor. . . . PRACTICE: Lying on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor, bring your feet as close together as it’s comfortable if you can let the feet touch. On an inhale and with control, let your right knee and hip open out to the side with a sense of length and expansion into your lower belly, pelvic floor and inner thigh. Lengthening just to the end of your inhale. As you start your exhale draw the pelvic floor muscles in and up, hug your deep core muscles your transverse abs in- from the sides of the waist in towards your midline, lift the muscles above your pubic bone towards your bellybutton. Activate these deep core muscles without tucking the pelvis under- the lower back stays neutral. keep exhaling maintaining this deep core connection as you draw then write me back in towards the left squeezing the inner thighs together at the top. On your next inhale repeat on the left side. Repeat this exercise on each side for up to one minute focusing on the deep core contraction before creating the movement. This will stabilize the pelvis and lower back working the deep core muscles rather than the glutes. Watch the video for the dynamics of this movement following the breath.
