Let’s talk about beauty for a second. I feel in this digital age and space, it’s getting harder and harder to love ourselves and much easier to feel insecure, inadequate, and inferior. While I appreciate the creativity and inspiration that comes with this platform, I think it’s important to promote a more holistic version of beauty, as I’ve always believed it’s your inner beauty and your inner beauty alone that’s truly capable of capturing people’s hearts, and my own heart has always gravitated towards those that are authentic, courageous, and kind. With that being said, I have a challenge for you all – tag someone below that brings beauty to your life & comment what #realbeauty means to you. Will share my favourite answers via stories. 💕

♥️ when I was younger I was always teased for my height, my ears my face, and being skinny. I started to draw myself after school and started accepting my features by looking at them and embracing them. This is a drawing of my cellulite , stretch marks and my tummy roll. Drawing my features has allowed me to feel that this is beautiful and this is art. . No boobs, but team Pumpkin🎃 ... #bodyacceptance

Recently I’ve been in situations that reminded me not to “judge a book by its cover.” So let’s continue in the spirit of that quote. . If you were asked what kind of music the girl in this picture (me) likes, you may guess country, Christian and 80s 90s throwbacks... and you’d be right. But if you added heavy metal to that list you’d be spot on. It’s one thing people are always shocked to learn about me... but I can’t help loving a mean guitar solo and some super fast double bass. I think I was born liking it. . So here’s to remembering we all have bits and pieces no one can see that make is uniquely us! Sometimes those bits and pieces are hidden hurt, so treat others with kindness. ❤️ . I’d love to learn something about you, something I may not know by scrolling your feed.

Losing weight doesn’t mean you’ll love your body. During my eating disorder days I was the smallest I’d ever been yet hated my body the most! Being smaller doesn’t guarantee positive body image or self love. What does? An intentional change of perspective. You have to start choosing to see your body as a good body AS is, NOW. You have to choose to “own” your unique beauty and body size. In high school, I tried to dress like the popular girls. It stressed me out because I was trying to be something other than myself which is hard work because it’s not natural! Eventually I gave up... and it was awesome! I embraced patterns and styles of clothes I liked instead of trying to copy magazine trends or what others wore. I felt so much at peace, happy and confident . People need to do the same with their bodies, stop trying to make them look like others. Just embrace the natural “style” and shape of your body. Recognize you are beautiful in your own way and that just because she is beautiful in a different way doesn’t mean you aren’t too! Those girls in school looked nice but so did I! In our own ways and that was perfectly okay! Choose today to notice all your body does for you. Realize it’s good not because of what it looks like but because of what it does! When you realize that, you’ll start to love how it looks at any size too, a bi product of body appreciation 💕 ❤️

The confidence journey is easily seen in her clothes. You see, on her first encounter with Sensual movement, she covers her flaws, she hides behind the long pants and maybe even a long shirt. she looks around the room at her peers wondering how they're so comfortable with themselves but as she gets more comfortable and as her divine feminine and sensual self emerges, she begins to show up in attire that makes her feel sensual, beautiful, confident and sexy. 🔥🔥🔥 I love short shorts and thigh high socks - especially the black lacy ones!!! ------------------ What attire makes you feel most confident? ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Scrolling through

We all fall victim to the effects of social media. Scrolling through and the thoughts! You know ALL the thoughts I’m talking about! The feelings of “I am NOT enough”. “I am NOT doing enough”. “Their life is so much doper than mine”. “GOALS”…..ugh the relentless and never ending FOMO! Yeah, those thoughts! Those ridiculous but HUMAN thoughts. ⚠️Social Media has always been someone showing you what they WANT you to see!⚠️ I choose to be transparent, so you may see a lil’ bit more than unicorns & rainbows with me… but as transparent as I am, I am STILL not posting every time I wanna rip my husband’s head off, or I’m totally bummed or if I am having the WORST EFFIN’ DAY everrrr! Be careful everyone. We get so wrapped up in the glitz and glam of social media and start the comparison game. DON’T!!! Do NOT Compare yourself, your life, your anything to ANYONE ELSE! There’s a LOT of smoke and mirrors on social media, FILTERS GALORE… and let’s be honest: until we can see each other’s credit score, net worth, a list of all the charities we support as well as where we volunteer, a GPA, etc… does any of this matter? We are out here judging and comparing our lives to the pics of someone else… The PICS that could be some MUTHAFLIPPPIN B.S. YIKES and WOW. The pressure we place onto ourselves, unnecessarily! Believe half of what you see & nothing of what you hear! Set your own goals for your life and go at the pace that makes you comfortable & happy. You are in a race with no one. YOU DO YOU. Be the best you possible, level up when you can and know you are a MASTERPIECE! Sheeeeeeet… you know what really counts? LOVE and HEALTH… the rest is just the rest! Social media is a just a sliver of a look into someone else’s life.. ‘member that! SOMEONE’S LIFE MAY SEEM PERFECT BUT TRUST ME, IT’S NOT! Social media is 1% of who I am and if you know ME, you KNOW the statement is true! So, Fuck Social Media, I’m DOPE in REAL LIFE. Boom! 💣💥

This week's #MeditationMonday exercise is all about BODY LOVE. To change the way we view ourselves, we have to appreciate what our bodies do for us. So, let's send each part a little love. After seeing my hair in this video, I’m sending each strand a little love! 😆 . . . Steps: 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 * Close your eyes and sit/stand/lie down with your spine long and chin slightly tucked * Take some deep breaths in and out of your nose * Say the following phrases aloud or in your head, visualizing a sense of warmth going to those parts of your body: "I give love to my face...my arms...my chest...my belly....my legs...fingers...toes." * Feel free to slow it down and break it down, listing what you love specifically about each part of your body * Take a few more deep breaths, absorbing this positive feeling and repeating the phrases as many times as you'd like! . . . Stay mindful, friends ✌🏻 . . . #meditation #mindfulness #bodyimage #bodylove #bodypositive #meditations #mentalhealth #stressrelief #meditationvideo #guidedmeditation #fitness #selflove #yogisofinstagram #toronto #yoga

When I sparked a relationship falling in love with my body; with everything that makes me, me. I wanted to love every curve, every stretch mark and every scar. I wanted to be comfortable naked. I wanted to be comfortable in my own skin. At the time I was reading the book “Becoming myself” by Stasi Eldredge. She explained how she struggled with her body image and wanted to change it. So she started falling in love with her body by standing in the mirror, completely naked and observing her body. As she did this she would thank her body and all that it had been through. I borrowed her idea and started practicing this myself. It felt completely awkward at first, just standing in front of the mirror looking at my naked body, but over time this simple ritual has become one of my favorite things. Observing and thanking my body in this way has helped me get to know my body in so many ways. It’s grown a love for me my body and had strengthened my self confidence. It’s also helped me let go. Let go of false comparisons and unrealistic expectations. It’s been freeing letting go of those standards I thought I should be and embracing who God created me to be. I hope a spark ignites within you, urging you to embrace your body, your imperfections and you fall in love with YOU! Because you, dear, are beautiful!

.

A Week of Thanks: Day 1— What part of you are you most thankful for? . Maybe this seems selfish, but I’m starting the week of thanks off with naming the things about my body for which I’m beyond thankful. . We are given so many reasons via mainstream media not to love our bodies that loving yours almost seems like a rebellious act. So here goes my rebelling... . I’m thankful for my eyes. I love them. I love that they are a cool shade of slate grey/ blue and the fact that they give me the ability to see all of the beauty this world has to offer. . I’m grateful for my curves. They make me feel womanly, powerful and sexy. . I’m thankful for my thighs. They aren’t skinny; they’re powerful. And they allow me to explore this miraculous world and take the stairs whenever stairs are an option to take. . I’m thankful for my teeth. They aren’t perfectly straight, and I’m in a constant Invisalign battle to fix that, but I’m thankful for them nonetheless. . The same goes for my chin, which appears as a double chin in most of my photos no matter how many rounds of #weightwatchers I do. But I have a chin which makes it a good chin that I am thankful for too. . And my boobs. I’m thankful for those too. (Even the right one which will always be a sliver smaller than the left one). I love them for all of the obvious reasons, but mostly because they allow me to love my body even during the holidays when I eat a little too much pumpkin cheesecake or stuffing and gain a few extra pounds. . I hope this post gives you a little extra encouragement to be thankful for all the parts of yourself that make you you. . I’d love for you to tell me what you are just thankful for in a comment below. . xoxo

The {dreaded} dinner party. . It should be a fun carefree night with girlfriends, but all you can think about is that spread of food that seems to be staring right at you, taunting you. You try to ignore it, to focus on your friends, but it’s nagging at you like a little devil on your shoulder. 😈 . You’ve been trying to eat super healthy. The “no bad foods” diet. But you also don’t want to let your diet get in the way of your social life. You don’t want to NOT be a cool girl just because you want to lose weight. . So you cave. You eat that cracker with some gourmet cheese & refill your glass of wine. Heck, you refill your plate again. . And that’s where the guilt starts. You “cheated” & you know you should stop, but can’t. So to make yourself feel better, you start watching how much your friends are eating. Especially your skinniest friend. “Every time she has another bite, so will I. That’ll be OK. If she can do it, so can I.” . But she doesn’t eat as much as you. She’s talking, laughing, maybe even enjoying herself. You sneak a few more bites, each time saying to yourself - “I’m a failure. No bad foods tomorrow.” . How does she have the body you want AND seem to be having fun? You’re sacrificing so much and you’ve been feeling so restricted with your gluten-free organic protein bars & chicken salads lately - yet you’re still not seeing results. . The dinner party ends. You leave feeling too full, too big in body but too small in mind. You’ll just have to be PERFECT tomorrow. You tell yourself your friend will probably slip up tomorrow, but YOU won’t. Definitely not - until next weekend. ……………………………………………………………… LADIES! If this is your reality, IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE THIS WAY. . Having the body you want does NOT mean you have to feel restricted all the time, then guilty when you mess up. The comparisons to your skinnier friends, the anxiety about food - this doesn’t have to be your experience. . If any of my dinner party story resonated with you, DM me & let’s talk. No strings attached - just one girl who has been through this (& more!) trying to help another to break this cycle for good. 😘
