Have you ever recorded yourself during the Biceps Curl exercise? If not, START NOW! It’s a great way to analyze your movement and avoid errors. In this short animation there is a common mistake which is lack of stabilization of the shoulder girdle. If we do not keep our back elongated and stabilized, the scapula (Because the biceps brachii connects to the scapula) will pull the body forward. The target muscle is the biceps brachii (in red). The brachialis and brachioradialis (in pink) assist in elbow flexion. The knees should be somewhat bent in order to reduce the load on the vertebrae. So, what is the solution ❓ The solution is to lift lower weight where we will perform complete movement without moving the scapula! Selecting the right weight for your dumbbell curl exercises is ultimately a personal choice best determined with trial-and-error.
