@alexzandrapeters I absolutely love props because they make any pose accessible for any age, and all body types! I can remember flowing through classes that didn’t offer props on certain (hard) poses and I would sit there feeling like I wasn’t enough, that I wasn’t a good yogi or student. It made me feel horrible about my practice and I actually stopped going to the studios that didn’t offer props. This is the reason why I started making these posts, so hopefully you don’t have to feel the way I did. So, you can make any pose accessible for YOUR body. Also, don’t feel embarrassed to bring props with you to a studio that doesn’t offer them. Remember this is your practice, you can do anything you’d like to make a pose feel better, safer, more assessable. · Of course there are some styles of yoga that don’t use props in their practice – such as Ashtanga (so maybe don’t bring blocks with you to this class, and be sure to do your research on this style yoga before dropping into a class- especially if you’ve never done Ashtanga before) ❤️❤️. If you’d like to work on deepening this pose, practice these stretches prior: - Forward fold (12 rounds of breath, working on deepening with each exhale) - High lunge (5 rounds of breath) - Low lunge with a baby back bend (5 rounds of breath) - Low lunge with quad stretch ( hold for 30 seconds each side) Reach right hand behind the back, looking for the right ankle (use a strap or belt here if you can get the foot just yet). - Pigeon pose (30 seconds each side) - Splits (30 seconds each side).

And remember these are just ideas - you can do any variety of poses in each step 💁🏼‍♀️ Get creative with it! . 💗STEP 1: WARM UP Start to warm up your body before practice! These are my favorite poses: • Side Stretch • Cat/Cow • Thread the Needle . 💜STEP 2: SUN SALUTE A Flow through 2-3+ sun salutes. Modify as needed! . 🧡STEP 3: POSE SEQUENCE This is where you can get creative! Choose 2-5 poses to link together. Practice on both sides and repeat 1-3 times. I was also stressed and losing my mind- but that’s not why I started practicing. As a happy side effect- I am a much calmer person now with this outlet in my life! my yoga has gone from intense showy poses to hybrids to all the backbends and then to focus on basics. I don’t know about you, but I turn into a major baby whenever I have a headache 👶🏼 Before I take medicine, I drink a huge class of water 💦 and practice these moves 🧘🏼‍♀️ . 💁🏼‍♀️All headaches are different! If you find these poses are making things worse 🙅🏼‍♀️ Do not keep practicing!! 🙅🏼‍♀️Do what feels BEST for you! . 👶🏼CHILDS POSE: This pose always helps me feel better! Let your head rest on the mat or a block. Relax the body & mind. Breathe! . 🐮SIDEWAYS COW & NECK ROLL: This pose stretches the spine and neck, which is sometimes what causes a headache. Move mindfully here - see what feels good & helps ease the headache! . 🙌🏼WIDE LEG FORWARD FOLD: Stand wide, toes point forward, fold at the hips. Hand come down to a block or mat. Relax the spine & neck. Let the head fall heavy. Breathe. . 🌸LEGS UP THE WALL: Soothe your nervous system! Scooch your buns close to the wall. Lie on your back and scooch closer if needed. Keep a little bend in the knees & the feet can relax. Arms open like a cactus. Rest here as long as you like! . 💗SUPPORTED HEART OPENER: Currently my favorite restorative pose. Start with the tall block for the head, low block for behind the heart. Adjust until your comfy! Arms open to the side. Find a foot placement that feels good for you! Move slow & if anything feels TOO intense, no worries! Just don’t go as deep! . 💁🏼‍♀️Save this video for next time you need a great stretch! . 🐻WARRIOR 2: Stand wide & sink deep into the front knee. Pull the knee out toward the baby toe side of the foot. This opens the hips! . 🌸SIDE LUNGE: The key here is to keep that knee open out to the side. Put a tiny bend in the straight leg to avoid locking the knee. Press the heel down if you are able to. Mine doesn’t like to go down... yet😅 . 🌞HAPPY BABY & RECLINED COBBLER: Perfect way to gently get into the hips. I encourage you to find some movement here. Rocking side to side, bending one leg & straighten the other, etc. Spend as much time here as you would like! . 🦎LIZARD POSE: This one goes deep! Find the version that feels best for you. There will be some discomfort here, but that’s normal as long as it is not a sharp pain. Breathe here! . ✨TIP✨ Hips are a tight space for most people. These poses may feel uncomfortable when you first start practicing but that is okay! Experience this discomfort. Embrace it. Breathe into it. Allow the body to soften & you’ll see that the more time you spend here the better it becomes. . It has innumerable systems — health, medical, spiritual, and even combat-oriented systems — that advocate perhaps hundreds or even thousands of movements and even some passive and non-moving practices. The goal is to tap into our energy. Qigong is the yoga of China; or, perhaps more accurately, yoga is the qigong of India! Qigong comes from two words - qi, meaning energy, and gong, meaning work or effort. Qigong literally means "energy work." And, let’s say that any practice that moves qi (or prana) can be considered "qigong," yoga is, technically speaking, a form of qigong! ✨ The beauty of the qigong approach is that you simply start from where you are. If you’ve ever felt worn out at the end of a workday or after a weekend of over-indulgence, Reclined Spinal Twist is a great pose to help restore balance. . In Sanskrit, the pose is called “Supta Matsyendrasana” (SOOP-tah MAHT-see-en-DRAHS-uh-nuh). It’s named after an ancient yoga master, or “siddhi,” called Matseyendra. . It stretches the back muscles and glutes. It massages the back and hips. It helps to hydrate the spinal disks. It lengthens, relaxes, and realigns the spine. It massages the abdominal organs and strengthens the abdominal muscles. As a result, this pose tones the waistline and also helps to remove toxins. . This twist also encourages the flow of fresh blood to your digestive organs, increasing the health and function of your entire digestive system. . Try it now. Lay down. this is where it all begins. our entire experience of the world, of existence as embodied consciousness, depends upon our relationship with our thoughts. and thoughts are notoriously difficult to manage! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ most, if not all, of us experience thoughts that are intrusive, persistently negative, self defeating. yoga won’t magically make those thoughts go away. but what it can do is help us differentiate between our true, eternal selves and our thoughts which, however persistent they may be, are passing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ once we are able to get some objective distance between ourselves and our thoughts, we might be able to buy into them a little less, recognizing that they are not the ultimate truth, they’re merely machinations of our beautiful, complicated and very clever minds. we might even begin to see what they are trying to teach us, the WHY behind them. what’s their role in the story perpetuated by the mind? perhaps we can begin to address the issues that give rise to our thoughts of despair, of jealousy, of insecurity, of anger. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ and then maybe, just maaaybe, those thoughts might not need to show up quite as often. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #wishfulthinking #yogaforeverybody #yogabelgrade #manifest #jogabeograd #yogastudio #yogaquotes #manageyourmind #watchyourthoughts #youcreateyourownreality #mindgames #beginneryoga #yogainstructor #jogastudio #zdravzivot #mindbodyspirit #yogatribe #casovijoge @avaniyogabgd

3 Stretches to get you into the splits (Hanumanasana) 😀💕⁣ ⁣ Tip 1. Hold each stretch for atleast 30 seconds to a minute. (hold for longer if you feel comfortable).⁣ ⁣ Tip 2. Practice daily.⁣ ⁣ Tip 3. This picture pretty much sums up our trip to this land. It’s wild and free. Most of the times it shines with beauty and other times it’s dark and scary. So many opposites here. We will be leaving tonight to go on out next adventure. . . In other news, this wheel pose on sand was a first for me (anyone who can do this easily, I bow my head to you!) and this was only possible after an hour long class with @talia_sutra on @alo.moves who helped me to open up the front body instead of relying on the surface to help “press” your body open too much.
