Day 25: Bound Angle Pose, Baddha Konasana Bring your feet together and let the knees open outward. You can bring your hands in heart center and breathe here. To deepen this pose, grasp the toes or ankles and fold forward at the waist, keeping a flat back and the head in line with the spine. You can place the forearms in front of the shins for a deeper forward fold, or place them on top of the shins and press down for more hip opening. I have alternated between the two. No matter what variation you choose, keep the back flat. Day 8 #AloAboutBasics Half Lord of the Fishes. An amazing spinal twist that really wrings the digestive system. One of my first yoga teachers used to include this pose every class as a way for us to “squeeze” our intestines and release some “fresh juices.” Start seated on your sit bones with both legs forward, feet flexed and spine long. Bend your right knee over your left leg so that your foot is flat on the ground. Squeeze everything together. A gentle approach is just to hug your right knee with your left arm, slowly twisting your chest open to the right. You can also place your right hand on the ground behind you and use your left elbow to push against your right thigh for a deeper twist. Push the ground away with your right hand to lengthen with every inhale and press your left elbow into your thigh to twist a little more with every exhale. Gaze over your right shoulder if possible. Left leg can be bent or extended, just make sure to keep your foot flexed! Let’s be real...the process isn’t easy. It’s exhausting both physically and mentally. It can be depressing and discouraging, and is full of set backs and come backs. BUT on the flip side it can be one of the most amazing experiences you can offer yourself. I can’t be the only one who holds onto my “fat jeans” to try on from time to time to remind myself of how far I’ve come. Feeling confident in my body after having 2 kids wasn’t easy. There were times I doubted if I’d ever get to a place I was happy with. But I started from within and worked my way out. I started to improve my health and where I’m at now in my journey Is a direct result. I made it a lifestyle and not a quick fix. That’s the trick. Realizing things don’t happen over night is the first step. I can truly say that at 34 I am living my best life. I couldn’t be happier, and helping others achieve happiness and health through fitness is icing on the cake. To all you moms out there struggling...stick with it. And if you ever need advice from someone who’s been there, feel free to reach out. SPRING HAS SPRUNG! 🌷🐣The mornings are getting lighter, daffodils are everywhere and I have definitely felt a shift and a need for some change. Anyone else feeling a spring clean to their routine is in order? Lately my mornings have involved hitting snooze, eating my breakfast on the train and being pulled from pillar to post before it's even 8am with my entire day following suit 😴With all this rushing about having a huge impact on my day I have started cultivating some new, healthy habits into my mornings. My first wee change was to wake up 15 mins earlier and swap watching Netflix with my coffee for journaling 📖 This very quickly opened my eyes to how sacred and transformative the morning really is. Just spending 5 mins in the morning writing out 3 intentions for the day has hands down given me a greater sense of purpose. Intentions allow me to feel more motivated and excited to see what the day has in store and this in turn helps set the tone to my day. Each morning presents an opportunity for a fresh start, a chance for growth and a way to clear our minds and focus entirely on our own priorities✨• • • #breath #journallingeveryday
