Jump or step back to a yoga push-up called chaturanga (arms into your side). 6. Upward dog. 7. Downward dog and hold for 5 breaths. 8. Jump or walk forward. 9. Half-way lift. 10. Forward fold. 11. Guess you already figured that I love the chair and of course my blocks to practice. 😂 And of course I am showing some modifications with the chair again, hoping it inspires some of you to start with yoga "although you are not flexible enough" ... 🌼Tips for flying pigeon (flying figure 4). This video shows you how to get into Eka Pada Galavasana (flying pigeon) in two ways- from standing in tree pose and from sitting. Thanks to @cfd_sq2 for the post inspiration!❤🌻 . KEY POINTS 1. If coming in from tree pose, place ankle just above knee in your tree. This may be lower than you normally have it. 2. You may need to lean forward and fall into your hands to reach the ground. Your hands will catch you!!! 3. The hook of the foot around the arm really makes a difference in helping you get into the pose 4. Shift weight more forward and get hips up higher to make it easier to lift your leg 5. If you have tight hips, still continue to do as much of the pose as you can do. It will help you open your hips. 6. Well, I do have a thing with stripes ☺️ and it looks like it’s not about to change any time soon. But seriously, touching my head with my feet in a chin stand was not something I could ever dream of. But I did practice it, over and over, and by filming myself I saw that slowly, I’m getting a little bit closer.. there were times I decided I’m getting there no matter what, and over did it until it was painful. And here’s a tip- Don’t get to the painful level, try stopping at the ‘uncomfortable level’. It’s amazing how our body can cooperate with us if we just give it the chance.

It’s challenging for sure but at least you’ll know you’re going in the right direction. I see so many people pushing themselves hard and using so much energy and then wondering why they’re not getting results. This is because it’s not just about working hard, it’s also about understanding the body. _____________________________________________ There’s two ways to attack this, and I mean attack it because if you go at this half-hearted you’re gonna yourself some nice half-hearted results. OPTION 1. 10 minutes a day, every day! Like the method of the book. Get that consistency under your belt, become disciplined and form a habit of daily training. #theflexiblebody OPTION 2. Twice a week! Five sets of two mins with a 2 min break in-between each set performed twice per week. This is about taking some time out of your day to dedicate yourself fully to improving the movement of your body and preventing long-term pain. Hit me up below which option you’re going for. NOT 🙃) Here’s a quick 5-min sequence you can do to loosen up that space. Try it.. YOU HAVE FIVE MINUTES ✌️This is also perfect for those of you who sit at a desk all day hunched over a computer screen (*cough cough a lot of you!*) - I gotchu! . This month in classes we’re looking at the theme of ‘Embracing a Beginners Mind’. I think it’s quite appropriate for the new year when we may be in a more reflective state, open to change - to consider our practice with more curiosity and openness than we may typically tend to. "In the beginners mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert's there are few." Shunryi Suzuki It’s easy when we’ve been practising for a while to think we know all there is to know about a posture, about a breath practice and so on. It’s easy for us to think we’ve got a pose ‘mastered’ or we’re ‘very good’ at something. And while of course there is nothing inherently wrong with this - it’s a normal part of the human experience, it’s still important from time to time to try to keep this ego part of ourselves in check. To keep an open mind to questioning, to not assuming, to being open to a different experience. Therefore: in class we’ll be exploring some of the classic postures, but attempting to experience them with new eyes. And we’ll be exploring new things so that even if you’re a long time yogi you can experience something totally new to see if you can spark your beginners mind into life! Often it's about simplifying and just finding joy in the little things, in the small details that we may not notice as much when we've been at this yoga thing for a while. And linked with that, I think it’s also easy to mistake the posture or the asana, for the whole practice! “The Study of asana is not about mastering the posture. It’s about using the posture to understand and transform yourself.” Gary Kraftsow It’s easy to believe that yoga is just the physical movement practice. But the truth is - it’s so much more. The physical posture is really just providing a location for your practice, the environment for it to happen within…it’s not the final goal.
