Gene expression: There are beneficial changes in several genes and molecules related to longevity and protection against disease (7, 8). Many of the benefits of intermittent fasting are related to these changes in hormones, gene expression and function of cells. - - 2. For this reason, short-term fasting actually increases your metabolic rate by 3.6-14%, helping you burn even more calories (10, 11). In other words, intermittent fasting works on both sides of the calorie equation. It boosts your metabolic rate (increases calories out) and reduces the amount of food you eat (reduces calories in). According to a 2014 review of the scientific literature, intermittent fasting can cause weight loss of 3-8% over 3-24 weeks (12). This is a huge amount.

Today's workout, day 5, is usually when you're just starting to feel it everywhere. You get tired, you're sore a s the excuse flood gates are pushed wide open. . That's when the strengthening our mind part comes in.... Think about it . "When we’re at a loss, we reach for the lowest bar—and the lowest bar is typically our highest level of training" So if you set your goals to run a 10k straight without stopping and you've only run 3 miles straight then right around that 5k mark you'll start to tank out. That's when you have to really dig in and go that extra o1 more mile. That is where you get stronger, faster and closer to the 10k goal. Okay so I know the picture on the left is a horrible shot of me, but this definitely helps put my rough week into perspective. The picture on the left was 4 years ago which is also when I was counting calories and working out like crazy. Believe it or not, I'm basically the same weight in both of these pictures give/or take 5lbs. The picture on the right is me now - 5 months on keto and working out 4-6 days a week. I may be the same weight, but I look so much different! Not to mention I was 2 sizes up from where I am now. It's crazy that the same weight can look so different. Let alone the same weight on the same body! I remember struggling so much that time when I was trying to lose weight. I watched and counted everything I ate and barely lost anything. I was so frustrated. It wasn't until I found the right lifestyle that I'm finally happy with my journey and feel like I can continue being successful despite having a rough week. It's all about finding what works for you and your body.
