The Down Stretch and Cobra are paired nicely together👌 Down stretch being the best full stretch from the Reformer Stretch Group Series and Cobra 1 a nice combination of coordination and articulation. 👏 Cobra 1 is part of the BASI Mentor program. Eek! I’m all in for another round with @dynamicpilatestv this week 😄 Please checkout my class which demonstrates the many wonderful ways you can use the Allegro 2 and it’s sliding footbar. I have a passion for creative flow, and whether you have one of these reformers or not, this class will hopefully inspire all. I often find if I lack a piece of equipment I’ll fashion something in its place to create the same effect. I so hope you all enjoy it as much as I loved filming and teaching it. I promise that I only say ‘Leurrvely’ every other exercise! 🙈 well @korinnolanpilates is rather ‘lovely’ so it needed to be reiterated 🤣

⭐️VMO ⭐️ Vastus medialis oblique The role of the VMO is to stabilise the patella within the patella groove and to control the tracking of the patella when the knee is both bent and straight. Mis-firing and weaknesses in the VMO cause mal-tracking of the patella and subsequent damage to surrounding structures and aching pain . . ‘Arty Farty Pilates’ • These were the words coming out from someone’s mouth when they asked what classes I teach. I’m still quite shocked that the public still have this opinion of Pilates, even with it rising in popularity over the last few years. • So I thought I’d give you a bit of a back history of Pilates, where it originated from and Mr Pilates himself. • Joseph Pilates was born near Düsseldorf in 1880 and was a very sick child. As a teenager, he was determined to reach peak physical condition and studied yoga, martial arts, boxing and weightlifting. Once moving to England in 1912, he was incarcerated in 1914 due to the World War. It was here he developed his ideas on health, fitness and bodybuilding. In 1915 he was transferred to the Isle of Man, where he worked as an orderly. Where he helped those who were injured to recover, by experimenting with bed springs and straps to aid rehabilitation. He noticed that the muscle tone of his patients developed rapidly from this. In 1926 he emigrated to the USA, where he met his wife and worked with dancers and athletes to fine tune his work. He believed emphasis should be on the quality of movement rather than quantity or load... • So you see, Pilates isn’t just some easy exercises performed on a mat in a church hall. It goes way beyond what you believe it to be. • It’s a tried and tested form of exercise (that was developed from dancers and elite athletes) to work on the body and mind. Following the Pilates principles of breath / concentration / control / centring / precision / flow. • I urge anyone who thinks it is ‘easy’ or ‘arty farty’ to try a class. You will be left working muscles you’ve not used in a long time, challenging your placement and perception of your body and realising where your core actually is + how to use it. • Still baffled by it and not sure wether to try it out?
