Mountain Gorillas are by far one of the most challenging subjects I've worked with. The light on the rainforest floor is abysmal regardless of the weather with such a thick canopy and the Gorillas themselves are often in clustered, dark areas. Despite this, they were incredible animals to simply observe, with several young who were extremely playful and adventurous.⠀ -⠀ If you enjoy my work and want to see more, why not follow @tesniward and @badger_diaries to keep up to date with any new images or projects I'm working on 🤗

This very handsome chap unfortunately used to live at the Perth zoo until his sudden demise a couple of years ago. He did however outlive the average lifespan for lions in the wild so perhaps his life was fulfilling and happy?? #wildlifephotography #wildlifeperfection #wildlifephoto #wildlife #wildlifeonearth #animals #bigcats #bigcatsofinstagram #destination_wild #wildlife_addicts #wildlife_seekers #lions #exclusive_animals #wildestafrica #africa_nature #featured_wildlife #rsa_nature #discoverwildlife #splendid_animals #raw_africa #animal_captures #earthcapture #wildlifeonearth #marvelouz_animals #live_love_wildlife #africa_nature

Happy hippo. This group of hippos was lying on the elevated sand bank of the Zambezi river as we came around the bend in our house boat. When they saw us they took a good look, but decided to stay where they are. Swapping our land cruiser for a small house boat was a great addition to the safari, we could suddenly approach wildlife from the water side and get new views on the animals. 👍

'Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.' -Ralph Waldo Emerson. ▪️ 📍FISH RIVER CANYON (view from the main lookout), NAMIBIA. 🗓️ 17/5/2018, 📷 Nikon D7100 ▪️ The second largest canyon in the world, after the Grand Canyon in America, is located in the south of Namibia, not far from the border with neighboring South Africa. It is called the Fish River Canyon and is about 160 km long, 27 km wide and at places 550 meters deep. The River Fish River runs through the gorge of the canyon. A visit to this gorge is worth it because of the wide views and desolation of this area. There is no public transport in this region, so the only possibility to get here is with an organized tour or a private rental car. The roads in this area are largely unpaved, but very well mantained. Nowhere else in Africa will you find anything quite like Fish River Canyon. Go and get a taste of the sheer scale and beauty of the place from one of the lookouts, only 10 kms drive from Hobas campsite. The gap is really in the middle of nowhere and in general it is therefore quiet and deserted at the viewpoints. • 📸 My other Africa and Namibia pictures: #hildelikesafrica #hildelikesnamibia 📸 My account in B&W @hi_likesbnw#total_travels

Driving out from a camp in the Kruger as soon as the gates were open to capture first light (and to spend as much time in the bush as possible) we were lucky enough to come across this tender moment. This Hyena pup and mother were actually in the middle of the main road. Amazingly we were alerted to this as a car had stopped and after taking a mobile pic, drove off??! Sometimes you have to wonder why some people bother although there are many who don't seem to like anything except for big cats, personaly I'm happy with everything and anything. We were so close that I was able to practically channel my inner Geraint @geraintradfordphotos (as I mulled this over, I could swear my stubble started growing) and think about using a macro lens. Oh okay, I'm not that daft and losing a limb wasn't high on my agenda however this was so near that depth of field was non existent. So you ask, why use f/4? Well, I'm glad you asked, the reason was because I wanted to just get the suckling in focus (that and I didn't have any light!). 1/80s, f/4, ISO 800 - Olympus OMD EM1 mk2 with 300mm f/4 pro lens handheld @olympusuk @getolympus #natureship #natureshipuk #veganphotographers #robcottleimages #ethicalwildlifephotography #olympusuk #bbcearth #olympus300mmf4pro #getolympus #intothekruger #thisiskruger #capturethewild #splendid_animals #nature_of_our_world  #animal_shots_ #captureonepro  #olympusOMD #microfourthirdsgallery #olympuspassion #microfournerds #africa_nature #krugerexplorer

Ever get the feeling that the trees have eyes? Sometimes they do 🌳 👀 🐆. One thing I learnt from this encounter, is patience and watching animal behaviour can bring incredible moments. This female stayed well hidden for around 45 minutes, then slowly but surely she became more curious and moved closer to us, in her own time. This inquisitive stare came about as she hid behind the main trunk of a tree and slowly moved her head around the corner to give us a closer inspection. Locking eyes with her like this was a pretty special moment. . . . . . . . . #leopard #cat #botswana #naturephoto #naturephotography #nature #africanature #africa_nature #africannature #safari #safariphotography #travel #adventure #africa #eyes #focus #wildlife #wildlife_shots #wildlife_photography #wildlife_photo #wildlife_inspired #wildlife_vision #natureshots #naturelovers #nature_photo #nature_perfection #eyes #natgeo100contest #africageo
