|| the hard stuff || ••• life is not always going to be easy. It can turn you upside down without warning, spin you around until you’re dizzy, and if you’re lucky, you eventually find yourself back on your feet. The same goes with happiness; one day we have it, the next it seems to disappear. As life goes, there will always be hard days. Grimacing through a hard workout, ending a relationship, being unhappy at work, physical health issues, mental health issues, seeing someone you love suffering. It can surface all at once, or creep up on us a little at a time. We can not control life, it happens no matter what. But what we can control is our happiness. Happiness is a choice, not a result, and when life is turned upside down, choosing happiness seems unreachable. But we all have the ability to choose to find happiness in the difficult times; the times life deals you the bad cards. Happiness doesn’t mean being happy with your situation, it means taking the hard stuff and finding a silver lining, no matter how big or how small. So my cardio to start my workout was panic and run to catch the bus 😂. Wasn’t in the mood to walk the couple miles. 😅So I tried to burn out my biceps today and attempted cheat curls (1st vid) and immediately knew I was doing them wrong as I could’ve potentially throw out my back. Hence video 2 where my form was better. 💪 Though not video’d but a killer bicep finisher are peak concentration chin-ups. Squats are still at 285lbs. Also they have been a real pain lately.. & plus I had zero motivation last week.. - I have been working on 295lbs for 3 days & yesterday when I finally thought I had it.. I didnt. .when I was pushing up,the weights was like "SIKKEEEEEE" 🤣. to be honest I'm not mad at all. I made progress. The first time I tried to squat 295lbs I only lift the bar from the squat rack and put it back .. the 2nd time I had it off the rack about to squat it but couldn't push it up.. now 3rd I was so close. - I'll get there soon...💪 - I like sharing my fail moments to show that's not always easy to get where I am. The answer is both. Fat loss is determined by whether or not you are in a net caloric deficit. Muscle building will take place regardless. • When people say that they want to lose fat, they are after a physique that is lean and a little muscular. Your muscles are what give your body its aesthetic look and it's shape (along with bone structure). • So you should be doing intense weight training regardless of whether you trying to build muscle, burn fat, or build strength. Heavy weight training has been shown to help lose fat faster than any other form of exercise when done with the incorporation of heavy compound movements with a high protein, calorie deficit diet. • So yes, you can build muscle and burn fat at the same time despite of what you might have heard from others. Even research has shown it - I have mentioned some studies in a couple of my stories before. • Always remember, fat loss has to do with calories. Full swipe 👈 CHEST & TRICEPS. Weights gone up a little, reps gone down a little, since last week! All exercises with 9-11 reps with a rest pause on the final set. It means that after you reach muscle failure, put the weight down, rest for 10-15 seconds, then do another set to failure. • The workout: 1️⃣ BENCH PRESS: 4 sets of 9-11 reps 2️⃣ INCLINE DUMBBELL PRESS: 3 sets sets of 9-11 reps 3️⃣ DUMBBELL FLYES: 3 sets sets of 9-11 reps 4️⃣ CABLE CROSSOVER (UPWARD ANGLE): 3 sets sets of 9-11 reps 5️⃣ TRICEPS PUSHDOWN: 4 sets sets of 9-11 reps 6️⃣ DUMBBELL OVERHEAD EXTENSION: 3 sets sets of 9-11 reps 7️⃣ LYING CABLE EXTENSION: 3 sets sets of 9-11 reps • I am keeping the exercises the same and going up in weight every week. Why am I doing that? So that I don't hit a plateau. • The idea is this: let's say I do the bench press and I able to lift 60 kilos for 12-15 reps. I will increase the weight on the bench press every week while dropping the weight and continue for 4 weeks. On week 4 I would bench press a weight I can do for 3-5 reps. • Starting week 5, I would go back to 12-15 reps again. But this time, I should be able to lift more than 60 kilos for 12-15 reps. Which is exactly what I am going for. If you go back 4 weeks down my Instagram page, you will see me bench press less weight for the same amount of reps. • This is one approach to training I use to avoid plateaus. Try it out.
