A major factor to their tightness is their location and anatomical attachments. When we sit, we put our hip flexors in a shortened position. Unfortunately, many of us split a lot! That combined with heavy use of the muscle during activity causes it to shorten. 👎🏼 // // A shortened muscle does not generate as much power as a normal length muscle is capable of. The shortening and weakening of the hip flexors creates a muscle imbalance in the hip, which can cause problems in other parts of the body. One is causing a greater curvature in lower back, putting additional strain on the lower back (aka back pain). And, it can lead to hip flexor, groin and hamstring strains!🥴 // // Dynamic stretching (strengthening and lengthening the muscle while in motion) is the most effective way to stretch the hip flexors. A static stretch (like shown) can also be helpful post exercise. I have made myself and my health a priority and thats why its on my to do list everyday to get a sweat session in even if it is only for 20 mins .. . Ladies straighten up ur priority list and make sure to put ur heath at the top of the list. I know it sounds too cliche but everyone in this whole wide world has got only 24 hrs in a day but people who achieve the most are the ones who set their priorities right... . . Never ever put urself any less important because if your healthy and happy you can do miracles for people around you. . . . You have to make time and come out of your everyday comfort zone to get where you want to be in next few years... . . . Imagine if we obsessed about the things we loved about ourselves. 🤔🤔🤔 After all that my body has been through, i find it really hard to find anything to love about my body. I found a picture of myself pre-kids and wondered why i was still so unhappy with the way i looked, because i was skinny and fit. And It’s crazy to think how I was so obsessed with a flat belly and being a specific size. I didn’t think I was, but I was. 😔😔 Now after having kids I have skin looser than I’ve ever known. I have curves and bumps in places I never knew I could. And all I can think is if I “diet” i know i can lose the weight quick, but what example am I setting for my kids. 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳 As a girl mom I don’t want there to be rules of good foods or bad foods. Rules of what I can and can’t eat. Rules of measuring and weighing out my food. I don’t want her to see that and think this is what we do to be happy. 🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈 I want her to love her body and to have a healthy relationship with food and exercise. And I know so many women want the same but they just don’t know how to get out of the wheel of dieting. I have an amazing group of women I’ve been coaching to help change those habits and to focus on being mindful of our eating choices. Reclined butterfly is such an amazing pose to counteract daily activities and open up the heart and chest. I've been using it to counteract breastfeeding postural tightness. I use a block to incline by bolster to avoid overstretching the area of my c-section incision until it fully heals. I can't wait to fully heal and get back to doing deeper backbends! ⠀ ⠀ Have you tried reclined butterfly? To practice it in a yin way, just get into the pose and release. Hold it for 3-6 mins as you practice mindfulness. ⠀ ⠀ PS. Don't mind my back rolls, I just grew and birthed a baby.
