Ultimately my practice has become about being a kinder more compassionate human. To try to meet people where they’re at and to be present in my everyday interactions. It’s about being more human, understanding my limitations and recognizing my gifts. ⠀ .⠀ I still love asana but it’s not about the asana. This is the message I try to convey in my classes and hope my students might get a smidgen of. ⠀ .⠀ The practice needs to serve us in our lives, wherever we are. And what that looks like when we’re 25 might not be what it looks like at 35, 55 or 85. The more open we become the more we recognize that every moment of our lives offers the opportunity for practice. We don’t need a yoga mat or meditation cushion to practice, we need a desire to go deeper, to look inward and to not walk away from what we see. ⠀ #simonereflects#takingitoffthemat

The second portion of this workshop will focus on proper breath and breath control in Ashtanga Yoga. Attaining a specific quality of breath is a key part of the Ashtanga Yoga practice but it is seldom given the attention it deserves. Please come in your yoga clothes, there will be some light asana (postures)practice.
