Day 4; To me the beauty of yoga lies in how it could mean so many different things to different people. To me it has always been a reflection of where I am in my life. I took this photo a year ago and it’s interesting to look back and feel the way I felt inside then. I was stressed, anxious, depleted, and energetically draining myself...but I had no idea. I’m so strong minded that I convinced myself that I was GREAT. I’m not saying I’m great now, I’m just ok with not being great all of the time. Sometimes I’m tired, I need moments to myself to recharge, and I lose it at times too. But the difference is that I’m not pretending and trying not to project my energy, rather allow my passion for teaching to shine through in me just being me. By committing to being present and connected to students from my heart rather than my head, I feel less drained. I’m tired, but my heart is full. Yoga teachers, do you get this? Whoa did we crack open in the most beautiful way today. It’s amazing how much I “feel” now that I actually allow myself to. Years of shoving emotions down and covering pain up with a facade had me so numb I would rarely even let myself cry or have a long hug with someone. But damn does it feel good to share and be open to listening attentively to others’ stories. It’s crazy that it’s taken me 35 years to wake up but I am so excited to feel this awake and alive. Thank you to the 60 yogis who share in this transformation with me everyday...I’ve never felt more comfortable in my own skin and happy to be the imperfect human that I am. It’s the last day of our #2018beyondbryce300 and I couldn’t be more proud of the 68 yoga teachers (including 8 staff) who have gone on this journey with us. We came together as strangers and are leaving as family. I’m so grateful for the lessons I’ve learned and for the space to teach and share my passion for all of the facets of teaching yoga. I can’t wait to see how we all apply this growth into our real lives! . Warrior 3 requires a lot of concentration. Some days you have it, some days you don't. And that's OKAY. It's important to tell yourself that. I see it all the time, in my OWN practice and in students' practices. As soon as we get frustrated, chances are... we let it get the best of us and that balance is gone. The mind is an incredible thing. Imagine how that translates in all facets of life... 🤯 now I'm getting too deep hahah Body cues that can help to stabilize? Even if that mind is a little cluttered? 1) Find a gazing point aka drishti. Stick with it haha. I usually find a knot in the wood on the floor or a crack. 2) Soften your knee in the standing leg. Don't lock it out. Engage it! Use it to help stabilize your hips. Engage through the lifted leg and make sure you are active all the way to you toes. Inner thigh pulling up. An easy way to check if your hips are square? That lifted leg knee cap is pointing down to the floor. 3) Think of your heart pulling forward and your spine lengthening. 4) Rib cage and front abdomen pulls in (never forget @diceyoga in 300TT just ONE finger to the ribs and abs game changing my Warrior 3) 4) pull the standing outside hip AWAY from that side rib.
