Find your inner balance 🍂🍁 . . . It is quite common to feel a little uneasy with change - such as transitions from summer to autumn. In order to find balance in a pose, the mind needs to be still. But how can we quiet the mind when we have a hundred things to think about? A great tip to calm the mind down in the moment, is finding something to focus on in front of you that isn't moving. Finding your gaze in that spot is called a drishti. Make sure to breathe fully, and let all thoughts go - focusing on the here and now. We can find our drishti both during practice and during meditation . . . When our mind is balanced, we can find equilibrium in standing postures - such as standing hand to big toe, our pose for Day 3 of #GoldenFallTimes 🍂 . After the drishti is found, begin building the pose from the foundation up. Move slowly and mindfully - there is no rush. Hand to Big Toe Pose (Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana) is one of the standing balancing yoga poses that equally benefits the front and back body. It increases a sense of being, and directs the individuals toward a state of deep stillness - perfect for the fall season . . . Let it all go and release what no longer serves 🍂🍁 . . . While this common saying speaks truth, have you really contemplated what areas of your life might benefit from this philosophical idea? It might be something as simple as completing an out-breath in any given moment, or as complicated as walking away from an outgrown relationship. Autumn encourages us to let go of old baggage and embrace the new. Since we now have the support of mature on our side, consider the following ways you might shed your dead leaves at this time of year: Let go of grudges. Forgive someone. Be easier on yourself. Take a break. Spend this season accepting yourself exactly as you are... . . Day 2 of #GoldenFallTimes is Pigeon pose. Mentally, this pose challenges our ability to sit with uncomfortable situations. On an emotional level, it can induce sobbing spells (yes, it can make you cry) by bringing up repressed anxiety and fear, and forcing us to breath while we sit with those emotions. It’s an intense hip opener that forces us to focus on letting go and releasing all that tension locked up deep within. I’ve decided to go for a king pigeon, which gives us extra vulnerability and allows us to lead with our hearts as we go deeper into the colder months . . . What are you letting go of that no longer serves you? . . . 🍁 Hosts: 🍁 @northernstar_yoga @ker.yoga @yogileonie @stelasulzdorf @nataliasyoga . . . 🍂 Sponsors: 🍂 @aloyoga @alomoves . . . 🍂 Poses: 🍁 1. Summer might be over, but we’re beginning this new week with our wonderful autumnal challenge, #GoldenFallTimes - focusing on preserving the joy and lightheartedness of the warmer months during the fall season 🍂 🍁 . . . Autumn is a time for change, new beginnings and letting go of what’s been and gone. The golden hues around us just go to show the magic of the changing of the seasons. Our first pose, the Warrior, does much of the same. It’s a strong and grounding asana that forces us to connect with our roots and with the Earth. All of the Warriors help us with balance, but Warrior 3 in particular, helps us to find equilibrium between the mind & body - something particularly important when transitioning through seasonal challenges. What I love most about them, is that you can move through all 3 warriors in one flow and feel the benefits of each one . . . I must admit, of all the asanas, Warrior pose is the one I struggle with most. Mainly because I have Lyme arthritis in my knees and it’s pretty painful. Therefore, I tend to avoid this pose altogether. However, I made it accessible here by holding onto the bars and shifting most of my weight onto my arms. Guess what? It felt amazing. It’s funny how the poses we avoid the most are usually the ones we need the most . . . Of, course there are more than 3 variations for Warrior pose. So, I’d love it know, What’s you’re favourite variation of Warrior? . . . 🍁 Hosts: 🍁 @northernstar_yoga @ker.yoga @yogileonie @stelasulzdorf @nataliasyoga . . . 🍂 Sponsors: 🍂 @aloyoga @alomoves . . . 🍂 Poses: 🍁 1. Do you believe in moon magic? 🌕 🌝. . . In astrology, full moons always represent completion and fulfilment, and this moon is no different. Today marks the Full Moon in Aries, a fire sign known for its passion, energy, and temper. It’s here to give everyone a boost of fiery individuality. This moon is known as the Full Hunter’s Moon or Blood Moon. In folklore, the Hunter’s Moon was named, because it was the time to go hunting in preparation for the winter . . . This is a very complicated full moon because it’s a time when the sun and the moon are deeply connected to Pluto. Pluto is all about transformation, obsession, jealousy, intensity, and passion—the big stuff...eek . . . This full moon marks a time to take action. It forces us to take charge and not be ignored or bullied anymore. We will also be able to squash fears and psychological chains that hold us back. The result will be freedom and confidence. No more standing by the sidelines and accepting negativity — it’s now time for us all to take charge of our lives once and for all! It’s a really powerful time to work with themes of transformation. As Aries is the first sign in the zodiac, it’s also an amazing time to try new things and be adventurous . . . What are you releasing and banishing today? 🌕🌝 . . . . .⠀ . . . . . . . . . . . #LymeDisease #Lymewarrior #yoga #yogi #igyoga #yogafam #yogaeverywhere #myyogalife #yogisofinstagram #igfitness #yogafit #outdooryoga #beagoddess #yogacommunity #fitspo #yogadaily #flexibility #strength #yogaflow #fitnessmotivation #yogafun #fitfam #yogainspiration #yogatime #yogamotivation #igyogacommunity #yogastyle #FullMoon
Smile-asana: The Posture of Happiness 😁😊❤️ . . . A smile not only affects your mood and the moods of those around you, but it can actually forecast your future. Children smile as much as 400 times per day, which is why they’re believed to be the most carefree among us. As for adults, only one-third of us smile more than 20 times a day. Laughter helps to ease anxiety and helps with depression... simply by allowing you to stay in the present moment 🥰😁 . . . It’s a known fact that it’s very difficult to frown when you’re looking at someone who’s smiling, but we knew this already. It can help lower blood pressure and reduce stress hormones such as cortisol, adrenaline, and dopamine, while increasing the level of mood-enhancing chemicals such as endorphins. Did you know that smiling is even more powerful than chocolate? A British study proved that a single smile can generate the same positive brain chemistry as up to 2,000 bars of chocolate 🍫 . . . So how is it linked to yoga? A smile signals benevolence, an act of do-no-harm, non-violence. In Yogic philosophy this concept is captured in ahimsa. Ahimsa falls under the yama category, meaning it’s also a restraint. As we oscillate in life between suffering and happiness - on our way to blissful balance, this moral concept invites us to restrain from doing ourselves and all other beings harm. Ultimately, practicing this along with the other yamas and niyamas will lead towards the alleviation of suffering. I do believe that Ahimsa can begin with a smile . . . So if you do anything this weekend, make sure to smile! 😊 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #yogaoffthemat #yoga #yogi #igyoga #igyogacommunity #yogafam #yogacommunity #yogaeverywhere #igfitness #outdooryoga #yogafun #yogisofinstagram #yogastyle #asana #outdooryoga #beagoddess #yogaphotography #yogadaily #yoginis #flexibility #strength #fitnessmotivation #LymeDisease #instayogi #Onzie #LymeWarrior #fallstyle #myyogalife #LymeDiseaseAwareness

Today is World Mental Health Day, so I thought it was fitting to share my story. Most of us have suffered/ continue to suffer with mental health issues, or know someone who does . . . . Just like many, I was severally bullied. At the age of 11, I decided that in order to fit in, I needed to loose weight to be “pretty.” I would go 2 days in a row, with no water and no food. On the days I ate, it would be only one tiny meal, then it was back to another 2 days of no food. I quickly lost weight and people noticed. All of a sudden they wanted to hang out with me, which of course made me think that being happy was dependent on being skinny. I was consumed by calories and my days revolved around the numbers on the scales. I couldn’t leave my house if I didn’t meet my goal weight of the day. On the outside I was happy, but on the inside I had deep depression and self hate. This spiral went on for 11+ years - with a good 2 years added on top of that for recovery. When people tried to reach out to help, I refused as I wanted to “stay pretty.” . . I was a US size 00/ UK size 2 and could no longer buy clothes that fit. My heart was failing, I was constantly exhausted and I couldn’t function. One day I went to A&E because I collapsed in the bathroom and my parents thought I was dying. The doctors told me I have Anorexia Nervosa and that I need to be institutionalised. Until that point, I never realised the severity of my illness and the impact it had on my family. I had a team visit me everyday, due to my suicidal tendencies - until I got a place at the Maudsley Hospital for my eating disorder. Having to gain weight was extremely difficult for me and I got into an even deeper depression. I become obsessed with exercise - until I found yoga. Something just clicked, yoga was the way for me to heal my body & mind . . A lot of my current issues are due to the years of trauma I put my body through. Although I’m going through a lot right now with Lyme, I never want to be in that dark place I once was. If you’re struggling with mental health issues, please know that there is always light at the end of the tunnel and please, please ask for help! Better days are coming 💗.
After a rough couple of days, I finally felt a bit better today. So, of course I went to the river, got some new yoga pics and saw the swans 🦢😁 (Check my stories for all the cuteness). I’ve been a little down these past couple of days because firstly, my appointment cancellation (Check my last post). Secondly, I got some blood results back and it showed that my liver isn’t coping to well. It’s quite ironic since the medication I’m on can actually cause liver damage, but I’ve not been on it long enough to know if it’s the medication causing it, or if my liver was just bad to begin with. I just never had my liver tested, but I do suspect it’s due to the Lyme . . . I also started a new medication yesterday and it’s brought on Herxheimer “Herx” reactions (a die off reaction from the Lyme). I spoke about herxing previously and here I am again. Dizzy, Nauseous, throwing up and struggling to find energy for anything. Yesterday the Herxing was extreme, but today it’s a little better . . For all you Lymies, my Naturopathic doctor gave me a great tip for helping with Herxheimer reactions and that’s to use “Alka-Seltzer Gold.” Usually this is used for curing hangovers, but nausea is nausea and it definitely helps. It works by brining your body back into alkaline so you don’t feel as dizzy, faint or as nauseous as you normally would. Seriously I wish I’d known about it before! . . Puppy pose shape inspired by @whitneydavisyoga 💙. This was actually way harder than it looks and I kept toppling on my side 😂 . . . Have you ever tried this variation of Puppy pose before? 💙 . . . . . . . . . . . . #yoga #yogi #igyoga #igyogacommunity #yogafam #yogacommunity #yogaeverywhere #igfitness #outdooryoga #yogafun #yogisofinstagram #puppypose #asana #outdooryoga #beagoddess #yogaphotography #fitspo #yogadaily #yoginis #flexibility #strength #fitnessmotivation #LymeDisease #instayogi #aloyoga #LymeWarrior #fitfam #LymeDiseaseAwareness #myyogalife
If you saw my stories today, then you know I’ve had a stressful day. One of my symptoms of Lyme disease is seizures. I get them 1-2 times a week, pretty severely. In order to get treatment, I need to be seen by a Neurologist. I’ve been on a waiting list with the NHS for 6 months and was supposed to be seen in November. However, I got a text message today to say it was CANCELLED. Just like that, with no explanation and no warning . . . You can imagine my frustration. I called my GP surgery, but my GP happened to be busy all day. The receptionist told me to call the number on my referral letter. I phoned and was told the Neurologist declined me as I don’t live in the right area for treatment. Why was it even offered to me if it’s not an option? It’s taken 6 months for them to inform me of this, which is just unacceptable. The worst part is, this isn’t the first time it’s happened to me. I had this issue at the beginning of the year with my Rheumatology appointment. I was forced to go private, as they kept cancelling on me with no explanation . . . So now, the referral starts again from the beginning. I have no idea how long I will have to wait. The NHS keeps failing its people time and time again. I know I’m not the only one effected and it’s a major problem in the UK. I have already been forced to get private treatment for Lyme disease, as there is nothing available on the NHS other than a prescription of antibiotics. Now it looks like I might have go private for a Neurologist too . . . I wish I would have know the state of the NHS before I got sick, as now I’m not eligible for private healthcare insurance since I’m already ill. Therefore, I have no cover whatsoever. But I shouldn’t have to in a country that prides itself on its National Health Service. So I urge you, if you’re in the UK and are “healthy” please invest in private healthcare insurance as you never know what’s around the corner - especially with Brexit. Believe me, you don’t want to be stuck in a situation like mine. If you’re still reading, thank you for listening and being a shoulder to cry on . . I hope your week has started off better than mine 💙. . . Has anyone else had any similar issues?
Have you ever counted the beads on your mala? There should be 108 and there is a reason for that 📿 . . . There are also 108 chakras, even though we focus and learn about the main 7 in yoga. The number 108 refers to spiritual completion in yoga. It’s why pranayama is often completed in cycles of 108, and why sun salutations are often performed in nine rounds of the 12 postures (totaling 108). By practicing chanting, breath work, or asanas in rounds of this sacred number, the ancient yogis believed that we could align ourselves with the rhythm of creation, and ultimately bring an end to our cycle of reincarnation. When we chant in cycles of 108, it is said that it’s one chant for each of the 108 chakras, and the 108 mala beads are also to bring us balance to each of these chakras too . . . Exactly how the ancient yogis arrived at 108 we don’t quite know, but it seems to be a number that connects us to our place in the cosmic order. The distance between the Earth and sun is 108 times the diameter of the sun. Is it possible that our ancient ancestors knew this? During the time that the ancient Vedic texts where being collected, Stonehenge was also built—the Sarsen Circle is 108 feet in diameter. In Belize, during the era of the Mayans, the High Temple of Lamanai was erected at 108 feet tall—the same height as the funerary Tikal temple in Guatemala . . . Do you believe that there is a deeper meaning the number 108 in yoga, or is it just a coincidence? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #yoga #yogi #igyoga #igyogacommunity #yogafam #yogacommunity #yogaeverywhere #igfitness #outdooryoga #yogafun #yogisofinstagram #sugarcanepose #asana #outdooryoga #beagoddess #yogaphotography #fitspo #yogadaily #yoginis #flexibility #strength #fitnessmotivation #splits #instayogi #goodvibes #crazysexyyoga #fitfam #aloyoga #myyogalife
I think the last time I attempted a super soldier pose was a good 2 years ago - way before I got sick. Would you believe this is the same girl that can’t walk and gets around on crutches and a wheelchair? Yep, me neither! Some days I get some energy and I try to push myself in my practice, but those days are rare and just because you see me doing this, doesn’t mean I do it all the time. I get questions everyday asking how I still manage to do yoga . . . . . A split second before I take my pics/ videos, I’m either on crutches or in a wheelchair. It depends on my energy/ pain levels that day, as to how much movement I can handle. @emmablondevoyage spoke about this yesterday and I couldn’t have explained it better. People see you in a wheelchair and assume you can’t move your legs. Wheelchairs are used for all sorts of reasons. Same as crutches, they see you on crutches and think it’s because you’ve broken something. The strange looks and comments I get in public when I put my crutches aside for yoga, or get out of my wheelchair, are just part of the problem. Luckily I’ve never had this issue with this community . . Well, yoga is doctor recommended and I definitely don’t have any broken bones. I’ve been active all my life before I ever got ill and my body definitely has a lot of muscle memory too. Anyway, I’m just super happy to share my triumphant pose with you guys and although I have pics of it, I liked the video more, as maybe some of you working on this pose may find it helpful to see the entry 💛✨ . . ✨ I am Victorious ✨ . . What does being victorious really mean? To me it means, finding the magic scattered in the everyday. It means celebrating the small victories no matter how simple they may seem. Being victorious is being content with where you are in the right here right now. It’s, advocating for yourself and being your own cheerleader . . . For me, some days getting out of bed is a victory. Finding the energy to post on Instagram is a victory. Finding the strength for yoga is a victory. But my biggest victory of all, is not letting my illness defeat me - not letting it take my smile away and knowing that one day I’ll get better. We are all so much tougher than we often realise. You have the power to be triumphant in your own personal struggles! . . What makes you victorious? . . Going along with the theme of victories, it’s time to announce the winners of #AffirmationYogis ✨. My asthma has been quite bad this weekend, but last night was the tip of the iceberg. Chris was cleaning the kitchen and I didn’t know. We recently switched all our products (including cleaning products) to natural/ eco friendly ones, so that they wouldn’t contain any chemicals that I’m sensitive to. I just got up and walked through the kitchen without thinking anything of it. Within seconds I started coughing and I couldn’t catch my breath even for a second. It was pouring with rain outside and I had no choice but to sit in the cold for 30 minutes while getting completely soaked, until the inflammation in my lungs calmed down . . Lately anything that has a scent sets off my asthma. It doesn’t matter what it is: perfume, flowers, air fresheners, cleaning products, creams etc... I’m not quite sure if it’s the smells, or something in particular about these things, but I literally can’t breath within seconds of exposure. Anyway, I’m picking up my inhaler and meds for my asthma on Tuesday. But my doctor did advise me to wear a mask 😷 when going out in public / cleaning etc... as when you’re already chronically ill and have environmental allergies too, you can become even more sick. So from now on, I’ll be doing just that. My parents came over today and were nice enough to bring me a few masks with filters in them. I always thought people were just being extra when I’d see them with masks out in public, now here I am needing to wear one too 🙈. Hopefully this will be the end of my breathing nightmares . . Do you have any sensitivities to smells and environmental factors too? . . New moon in Libra 🌚 ✨⚖️ . . Early this morning, the new moon rose in the sign of Libra. All new moons symbolize new beginnings, and with this moon in Libra — known for a charming nature, love of beauty, and sense of balance — we’ll notice its influence in our approach to love and healing. This new moon will deepen the current energetic focus on balance, beauty, and social interactions that we’re already experiencing during Libra season . . . During the new moon, take some time to reflect. Ask yourself, “Have I given more than I have received? Is this person being completely honest with me?” These are the kinds of questions that could come up during this lunation. While we might feel the need to do something about it, due to Libra’s impulse to act, there are other factors at play that we must take into account before we charge ahead. The positions of Venus and Mercury make for a more positive energy. Thankfully, Venus (the ruler of this moon) and communicative Mercury come to the rescue by helping us see the big picture as they form a cooperative with Jupiter — suggesting that even if it feels like a tense situation, it will get resolved as long as we commit to positive change and have an expanded sense of what’s possible . . . Libra moons are always a perfect time to reconnect with your personal grace. I often work with pink or white candles to feel more in touch with my ‘divine feminine.’ Some people use light floral essential oils. Calling forth these powerful yet soft energies while opening our heart chakra, gives us a sense of balance and benevolence towards our connection with the universe . . . What are you doing to find balance today? 🌚⚖️✨ . . . . .⠀ . . . . . . . . . . . #LymeDisease #Lymewarrior #yoga #yogi #igyoga #yogafam #yogaeverywhere #myyogalife #yogisofinstagram #igfitness #yogafit #outdooryoga #beagoddess #yogacommunity #fitspo #yogadaily #flexibility #strength #splits #standingsplits #fitnessmotivation #yogafun #fitfam #yogainspiration #yogatime #yogamotivation #igyogacommunity #yogastyle #NewMoon
Yesterday was a day, I had my appointment to finalise my treatment plan. However, my results came back not quite as I expected. Turns out you can be too sick for intravenous antibiotics. My initial treatment plan was to start on IV drip treatment as soon as all my results came back. That way, we would know exactly what I’m dealing with. Well, the IV treatment isn’t happening just yet... I’ll be on controlled drugs for the next few weeks instead . . I need to be monitored, as it can cause liver damage and Herxheimer “Herx” reactions (a die off reaction from the Lyme). Herxing is no joke! When I took antibiotics back in May, the herxing was so bad, I felt like I was dying multiple times (I’m not even exaggerating). Hopefully the meds will help and in time, I might be well enough to get IV. If not, it will be weekly infusion injections instead, until I’m well enough or the IV. I was told that IV treatment is so intense, that it’s not something my body can currently cope with. I never knew you had to have a certain amount of health to get certain treatment . . . This Lyme journey continues to be just that, a rollercoaster ride. No wonder people have Lyme for years. I was diagnosed 5 months ago and I’m still no closer to being Lyme free. Oh, and if you’re wondering, I have quite a few co-infections, Asthma, I tested positive for Mold and I’m dealing with a few viruses too (on top of everything else). I’m also being treated by a Naturopathic doctor who specialises in Lyme in the States. Today I started taking the herbal protocol to help eliminate the Lyme, co-infections, viruses and boost my immunity too. You can see just how many I have to take in my stories 😭 . . . Here’s to clarity and counting our blessings each day. 🙏🏼❤️ . . . . . .⠀ . . . . . . . . . . . #LymeDisease #Lymewarrior #LymeDiseaseAwareness #yoga #yogi #igyoga #yogafam #yogaeverywhere #myyogalife #yogisofinstagram #igfitness #yogafit #outdooryoga #beagoddess #yogacommunity #fitspo #yogadaily #flexibility #strength #aloyoga #fitnessmotivation #yogafun #fitfam #yogainspiration #yogatime #yogamotivation #igyogacommunity #yogastyle
I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who read my article in this months @fitflexyfolk magazine and to everyone who shared it. I received an overwhelming response of love. I went in depth with everything I’ve been through on my Lyme disease journey so far. I also explained thoroughly what Lyme disease is. If you’ve not had the opportunity to check it out yet, it would mean the absolute world to me if you do . 🙏🏼 . . . Jumping in on day 3 of #ChineseHoroscopeYoga with the year of the snake to support these wonderful hosts. Also, I’m a snake in the Chinese horoscope, being born in 1989. Now you know how old I am, not that it’s a secret haha 🐍 . . . Snakes have a deep and complex mind, but if they love, they love with their entire heart. Snakes are humorous and sophisticated. They don’t like small talk or thinking about small everyday problems. In a chaotic environment, they are the eye of the storm. Snakes are able to hold their ground and calmly think of solutions. They are always making new plans and follow them without relying on others input. They’re usually correct, but this also comes from a distrust of others. You cannot judge a Snake by its cover. Their slow talking hides their fast-paced thinking. Behind their calmness, they are alert and observant. It’s hard to fool a snake as they’re always one step ahead. They dislike routine and standardised jobs. Therefore, they thrive in environments that bring out their creativity. Snakes like to go with the flow and are your typical last minute culprits. In the midst of confusion, they always know how to find the solution . 🐍 . . . I’d like to think I’m definitely all these traits, but it’s all a bit of fun, isn’t it? . . September 23rd marks the Autumn equinox! 🍂🍁🍂 . . . The Autumnal Equinox recognises the symmetry between light and darkness, as Mother Nature establishes equilibrium between both day and night. As the warmth of the sun tilts away from the Northern Hemisphere, we accept that the soil is dying as we turn our attention inward for the slower, darker and colder months to come. We can recognize that dark and light must coexist together, as duality is the nature of all things. The first day of autumn also coincides with the start of Libra season in astrology, the sign of the Scales, marking a time for inviting balance back to body and mind after the whirlwind of summer . . . Now’s the perfect time to ground ourselves, to root down and rise up. It’s an important time to go inward. Keep in mind that life is a continuous circle: always shifting and evolving, dying and being born again. Just as change is the only constant, there are unbroken patterns that exist within the ebb and flow of reality, within the mind’s ever-fluctuating inner landscape. When we stop spinning our wheels, we can begin to witness the pattern, becoming aware enough to actually break free from it. Through practice and experience, it becomes possible to understand that the dark and the difficult are needed as much as the light and easy. We are reminded that whatever the circumstance may be, whether good or bad, that eventually it too shall pass . . . Are you grounding yourself today? 🍁🍂 . . . On a side note, I happened to write an article for this months @fitflexyfolk magazine. I shared my story with Lyme disease and more about what Lyme is. I’d absolutely love it if you checked it out! I left the direct link to my article in my stories 😊🙏🏼 . . . .⠀ . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #LymeDisease #Lymewarrior #LymeDiseaseAwareness #treepose #yoga #yogi #igyoga #yogafam #yogaeverywhere #myyogalife #yogisofinstagram #igfitness #yogafit #outdooryoga #beagoddess #yogacommunity #fitspo #yogadaily #flexibility #strength #aloyoga #fitnessmotivation #yogafun #fitfam #yogainspiration #yogatime #yogamotivation #igyogacommunity #autumnequinox
What is Lyme Disease and how did I end up in a wheelchair? Lyme disease, also known as Lyme borreliosis, is a disease caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi - spread by a tick bite, but you can also get it from horseflies, mosquitoes, or any other biting insect . . . I don’t ever remember getting bitten or having a rash. The first tell, tell sign you’ve been infected with Borrelia (Lyme) is having the typical bullseye rash. However, only 30% of people with Lyme disease get the rash. I was amongst the 70% that didn’t, so I never knew it was the reason why I became so unwell . . . Lyme is known as the great imitator because it imitates so many other illnesses (Lupus, MS, Cancer etc..), making it extremely difficult to diagnose. Hence, so many people like me never getting a diagnosis until years later. Lyme disease can affect any part of the body, simultaneously and cause a variety of different symptoms. The commonest symptoms relate to feeling flu-like, fatigued, muscle pain, muscle weakness, joint pain, headaches, disturbances of the central nervous system and a poor sleep pattern. The list of symptoms with Lyme are long and diverse and vary from person to person . . . I have all of the above, but as I’ve had Lyme for so long, I also have difficulty breathing and painful coughing daily, nerve damage causing regular memory loss/ confusion and frequent seizures and Bell’s Palsy. The Lyme arthritis in my knees in combination with fatigue/ pain is so severe that I just don’t have the strength to walk anymore. I’m currently fighting quite a few viral infections due to my compromised immune system. On the occasional day where I get a slight bit of energy, I try to do some yoga. Other than that I spend my days resting . . . When my symptoms first became chronic, I was bed bound for 9 months and didn’t leave my house because I literally couldn’t move. I’m learning to live with Lyme and staying as positive as possible, but I’m still completely dependent. I’ve found an incredible medical facility that treats Lyme patients like me and hopefully I’ll be on the road to recovery soon! If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask and thanks for reading 😊.
