Tough times never last but tough people do. What you put out into the universe you get back in return 💙 . . . Yesterday was incredibly tough for me and I was extremely upset and overwhelmed because in all honesty I feel alone in everything I’m going through. Sadly I’m just not getting the help I should be. Of course, nothing has changed since yesterday one bit, but I know Mercury retrograde is messing with me and I’m sure we’re all feeling it’s effects in some way. Today is a new day and I’m still upset but it’s the weekend and I want to start it off on a way more positive note. So, here’s a reminder above to anyone going through anything and hopefully you find some comfort in these words . . Posting this video is a huge deal for me because I can’t actually walk and I’m on crutches. So excuse the wobbles, instability and lack of both sides on some asanas. It’s just me trying hard to bare weight on my legs without the crutches (I know bad idea). I have to honour my body and what it’s currently capable of. I only slightly sped it up so it fits within the 1min insta mark. In reality my practice is very slow and steady . . Day 10 of #SummerGluteBurn is Yogi’s choice (favorite drill for glutes!) 🍑🔥 . . . The traditional butt workouts using gym equipment can get old and dull, so why not strength those glutes with some booty workout Ass-anas? 😂 🙌🏼 . . Day 9 of #SummerGluteBurn is Goddess pose 🍑 . . . Utkata konasana, also known as the goddess pose, is an asana to help you harness the forces of the universe while stretching and toning your lower body. This pose helps each of us connect to our inherent inner goddess, finding a common space with this powerful feminine energy. Like any squatting position, goddess pose builds your inner and outer strength and tones the lower body. It’s similar to a wide squat, so it really works your quads and glutes. As you exhale, bend your knees over the toes in a squatting position. Make sure to press your hips forward, knees back and drop the shoulders down pressing your chest forward. Squat and rise for 60 seconds, take a 20 second break then repeat 3 times . . The term 'yoga butt' is no joke. Yoga lets you sculpt, mold, and tone your lower body just by using your body weight. Of course it’s not all about how our booty looks, but if we could get a nice backside through yoga then why not? 🍑😅 Incorporating poses such as half moon or sugar cane might just be the answer . . . Day 8 of #SummerGluteBurn is Half moon pose 🌗🌙 . . . The gluteus minimus is responsible for the lift that completes the classic yoga butt. Working the medius will tone the upper hips and create a strong and well-rounded side butt. Work the medius by practicing Half-Moon (Ardha Chandrasana), or Sugarcane (ardha chandra chapasana) . . In Hatha yoga, the moon and the sun symbolise the two opposing energies of the human body. Practicing Ardha Chandrasana is useful for developing a sense of balance and coordination in the body – helping body and mind feel united. Both the half moon pose and sugar cane strengthen the quads, ankles, glutes, and core whilst helping to improve balance. I call this the Tai Chi Warrior 😂. Okay, clearly that’s not what it’s called but I decided to play around with my arms and it just reminded me of it haha. Activating your butt in this pose will give you the strength and stability that your legs need to do fancy transitions, like from Warrior 2 to Half Moon pose . . Day 7 of #SummerGluteBurn is Warrior 2 or 3 🤺 . . . Warrior II, or virabhadrasana II, is a strengthening pose that improves physical and mental endurance. Its ability to stretch your upper legs and ankles while also expanding your chest and shoulders makes it an essential foundational pose for most asana-based yoga practices. It literally strengthens the whole lower body so no wonder it fires up those glute muscles so well 🍑 . . . While warrior II is a strong pose, it also requires balance and steadiness. Did you know the biggest and strongest muscle in your body is the gluteus maximus? The glutes, as they are commonly known, contain three muscles located at the back of each hip or buttocks. As much as the backside isn’t spoken about much during class, not engaging your glutes can actually lead to injury. When asanas are done correctly, they can help strengthen, lift, and tone the glutes . . Day 6 of #SummerGluteBurn is Crescent lunge 🌙 . . . This heart opener, which stretches out the torso, can also help to give you a beautiful behind, toning the whole lower body. The longer you remain and breathe, the more heat you will start to feel build up through the ankles, calves thighs and glutes . . I do love practicing high lunges as well as low lunges, but for the sake of the stability in my knees, low lunge is currently a safer option for me. Adding glute activating drills with a variety of high and low crescent lunge pulses combined with your breath are perfect for booty strength. On the inhale, rise and get a tad taller by lengthening the upper body and extending the front knee a bit. On the exhale, sink back into the pose and bring the front knee to a ninety degree flexion. Clearly I can’t wrap my leg properly anymore but @amy.yogini was a good sport and did a half wrap with me. It may not be a full eagle, but it still has the same benefits and it’s always best to listen to your body! 💚 . . Day 5 of #SummerGluteBurn is Eagle Pose 🦅 . . . Eagle pose stretches several parts of the body that are difficult to get at and not addressed by many other yoga postures. In the lower body, wrapping your lifted leg lengthens the glutes on that side, plus the muscles that connect the femur to the pelvis, named the piriformis and the gemelli. Meanwhile, the standing leg is working hard to maintain stability and balance. If it’s difficult to wrap your leg while standing, you can either do what we did, try a lady legs variation, or even try it lying on your back to get a very similar stretch. Up top, crossing your elbows in front of your body elongates muscles in your upper back and shoulders . . My favourite drills are eagle crunches whilst laying on your back. I actually practice these almost every night before bed 😂🙈 and they still fire up the glutes. I also love eagle chair holds when I can actually wrap my legs but lady legs has the same effect too . We couldn’t have a glute challenge without the classic chair pose 🙌🏼. Yoga is amazing for the body. It can allow you to improve posture, strengthen the core, and lift the butt for a more yogalicious derrière 🍑 . . Day 4 of #SummerGluteBurn is Chair pose . . Utkatasana (Chair Pose) has a lot of muscles that are in play when you sink your booty back into that invisible “chair.” To concentrate on the gluteals, work on aligning your knees over the ankles and shifting your weight to the heels. Being on tip toes is unnecessary and purely for aesthetic purposes in my photo. I don’t actually practice chair pose like this and neither do most people . . The chair pose works your body similarly to a squat so no wonder your whole lower body will be burning after. My favourite drills are chair pulses, and also leaning my back against a wall in my chair pose. Just holding your chair against the wall for a min is a totally killer. Wishing all those celebrating in the USA a Happy 4th of July 🇺🇸! It’s a regular old day here in the UK, well I say it’s a regular day but it’s actually my husband, @csulzdorf ‘s birthday 🎂. We always joke that if we lived in America he’d never have to work on his birthday, which would definitely be quite nice 😅. It’s also #BloopersThursday so please enjoy the slide 🤣 and please do share your bloopers and I’ll post them in my stories. Anyways back to the regular schedule of the challenge . . Day 3 of #SummerGluteBurn is Side Plank or Side Lunge . . Across social media we see memes and posts about squatting for a sexy, strong butt. But squats are far from the best glute exercise out there. Actually, if you want to truly activate and tone your butt, you’ve got to include glute activation exercises that isolate those muscles. The side lunge, or in our case the side plank is perfect for targeting the side glutes . . Side planks with raised legs are killer. Just ask @amy.yogini how many takes it took us to get this shot 😅. The next day our butts and abs where hurting so bad, but of course you don’t need to do a fancy variation like ours to feel the benefits. My favourite drills in side plank are starfish crunches: whilst in side plank, lift the arm and leg facing upwards and crunch them towards each other. I also love side lunge dips (in either forearm or straight arm positions). Did you know that you can simultaneously improve your posture, stabilize your knee and hip joints, and relieve lower back pain by engaging the trio of muscles that make up the gluteals? . . Day 2 of #SummerGluteBurn is Bridge pose . . The glutes are a “use it or lose it” type of muscle. Unfortunately, many of us have postural habits that largely avoid the use of the gluteals, causing them to be underdeveloped. Also unfortunately for me, I’m still on crutches for nearly a year and it means I’m mostly sitting or laying down for the majority of the day. The gluteal muscles come into play when the legs are weight-bearing. So there goes the underdevelopment. As I’m unable to put much weight on my knees, poses such as bridge are pretty vital to strengthening this area for me. A few months ago I was scared to do any kind of exercise, but when my physio gave me glute bridge pose pulses to try - for strengthen my knees, hamstrings and glutes, I was pleasantly surprised by how accessible it actually was . . My knees are way too weak to do my photographed variation with pulses (I took this for aesthetic purposes 🙈). However, with both feet flat on the ground and my butt engaged, they become very doable. Better yet, with my condition I have lots of back pain but practicing bridges daily has lessoned the pain just by strengthening my glutes in mild back bends like this. If you have healthy knees, feel free to extend one leg at a time and hold it in the air for a few breaths then switch legs. Let’s face it, most of us are not blessed with bubble-butts and a strong lower body. But don’t worry. If you want to get glutelicious, all you need is the right yoga workout 🙌🏼 🍑 . . Day 1 of #SummerGluteBurn is Sunbird or Tiger Pose . . Strong glutes that properly activate can be key to injury prevention and a safe foundation for our yoga practice. Tiger Pose actually emulates the stretch a tiger makes when it wakes up. Tiger Pose helps to strengthen the hamstrings, glutes, core and back muscles. I often use Tiger pose/ Sunbird as a prep pose for other more difficult gluteus burning asanas like warrior three, dancer and sugar cane. The alignment points are quite similar so I often review proper technique here before practicing those more challenging asanas. . I just had to say goodbye to @amy.yogini after spending the most amazing week with her. I couldn’t believe it when she told me she had booked her tickets to fly to London, and now I can’t believe her time here is already over. Amy being here was like having a sister around. I was so worried that in my current condition that she might feel awkward, but everything was just perfect. We had so much fun just hanging out, tanning, yoga-ing, sightseeing, playing with my kitty, watching a West End show, BBQing, going to the river to see the swans, eating all the yummy food and having the most amazing talks . . She’s going to fly home and we’ll go back to texting everyday. It’s not ideal, but it works for us and over 2 years later, our friendship is stronger than ever. I’m feeling so sad today that she’s gone. My heart is both so heavy and so full at the same time. I’m extremely grateful for all the memories we made this past week and I can’t wait for the next adventure because this was definitely not goodbye! I’m so happy that yesterday Amy and I managed to get some partner yoga shots! We weren’t sure if it would even be possible in my condition, but we did so good and I can’t wait share the rest with you. Funny enough she’s more sore than I am today 😂 . We also took her to the see swans 🦢. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone’s face light up so much over these birds, but I’ll admit I do love going to see the swans too . . Today we’re taking a trip to Central London to show her some of London’s famous landmarks and then we’re going to see a West End show in the evening (Matilda the musical). You just can’t come to London and not see a show. Needless to say we’re having so much fun and the time is already flying by way too quickly! Not much to say today other than it’s wonderful having @amy.yogini with us. We had a super chill day yesterday as she was really tired from her travelling and I wasn’t feeling to well. Of course 30 mins after she arrives I have to have a seizure 🙈. Anyway, After all the cuffufel we ended up chilling and had a BBQ in the garden. Chris may have slightly burnt our food but we survived 😂. Today is a big day because we both washed our hair (it’s a huge deal you guys) 😂 . . Today we’re meeting up with @yogiinthecity_ which is super exciting and we’re hoping to get some new yoga photos together tomorrow. Just sitting here patiently waiting for @amy.yogini to arrive from Canada. She should be landing anytime now and in all honesty I still can’t believe she’ll be here with me for the next week. I’m extremely grateful to have made such amazing friends from all around the world. Ones so amazing that they would fly across the world just to see me in person . . . Last year I flew to Canada to meet her for the first time. I surprised her by being there on her wedding day. This year she’s coming to me. Although it’s not a complete surprise, it’s still a surprise in that even in my current condition and her fear of flying, she would still come to see me. This is a photo we took last year in Canada and I never got around to posting it. I’m just looking forward to spending the next week with her and hopefully getting more shots like this!

I just wanted come on here today to say the biggest thank you for all your birthday love yesterday. All the messages, comments, DMs and all of it! I was truly touched and I’m so grateful to have all of your support and friendships. I had the most amazing day and that’s huge for me because I never enjoy my birthdays 😂. The sun didn’t want to come out but the rain just about held off 😅. The BBQ was a success with all the food and drink! . . I’m absolutely exhausted today but I’ve been spending the day clearing up yesterday’s mess and getting the place ready for @amy.yogini ‘s arrival tomorrow! How was your start to the new week?

Another year older, another year wiser... or so they say 😅. 30 years around the sun today! 🎂 . . . I usually never look forward to celebrating my birthday or getting older, but with everything that’s happened this year I couldn’t be more happier to just celebrate life. The universe has challenged me in ways I couldn’t have even imagined. I found out I have a chronic disease and in all honesty I don’t know if my life will ever be the same again. I still have a huge fight ahead of me but I’m still here smiling, standing strong and looking forward to the future. I’ve grown to embrace everything that comes my way and just deal with it one day at a time. Through it all, no matter what, I know I’m surrounded by so much love . . This year I’m celebrating at home with family and we’re having a BBQ in my garden. We’ll be chilling out in the beautiful weather and just soaking up the sun (hopefully) with food 😄. I just want to thank you all for continuing to support me and following along on my journey through the ups and downs.
