Last Thursday I posted a progress pic of me in 2018 (when I first started practising Chin Stand) compared to 2019. I received so many messages asking for a tutorial, so here it is. . Please remember this is an advanced pose, I would strongly suggest building back strength, tricep strength, neck strength and flexibility before working on the final stages of the pose. . As requested a #YogaTutorial on preparing and working towards #Pinchamayurasana #Forearmbalance #Pincha #FeatheredPeacockPose . Itโ€™s one of my favourite postures to practise and teach. Letโ€™s break it down into the basic elements required to build up the pose. The key movement is #Balance #Shoulder Flexion Iyengar grades this pose 12/60 Limiting factors: -lack of strength in the upper body -lack of flexibility in the shoulders Personally I find it much easier to balance in pincha than in handstand because youโ€™ve more of a fulcrum, however I believe you require far more shoulder flexibility. . Start to stretch and strengthen your shoulders with some of the basic forearm cat/ dolphin drills daily and you will soon be on your way to feeling empowered by pincha! I strongly encourage you to invest in an @infinitystrap to help develop the external rotation of the upper arms. Be sure not to allow the elbows to splay out to the sides. Iโ€™m showing how using a block between the elbows, encourages correct alignment. This is how I first learned how to pincha. . Itโ€™s quite uncanny that I was tagged by @kittycatdang to post something that I really love about myself. . Yesterday I discovered that I may not be able to get hold of a medication I take daily to help me live a relatively normal life. I think bloody BREXIT has a lot to answer for ๐Ÿคฌ(for those of you who donโ€™t know me Iโ€™m a dukes stage 4 cancer survivor, in fact the longest to survive in the UK of the stage I was diagnosed) . I donโ€™t let my emotions out that easy but I filled up with so many anxieties, fears of how quickly my health could downward spiral. I experienced an overwhelming sense of panic, I was fighting back the tears in my pharmacy. I started to think all the hard work Iโ€™d put into getting my health back to normality this year was all for nothing. . Without realising it but Cat made me remind myself that Iโ€™m bloody good at dusting myself off and just getting on with any situation thatโ€™s thrown at me. I never give in the towel, Iโ€™m a fighter and I love that about myself. .
