Haute Couture translates to “high sewing” and relates to the extreme attention to detail sewn within a garment and reserved only for truly one-of-a-kind pieces. The name originated from Fédération Française de la Couture, which is the governing body for the French fashion industry in 1868. Now what is the process that designers have to experience before they can officially produce a couture collection? Well, it starts with having to receive official permission from the Syndical Chamber for Haute Couture, based in Paris. According to this agreement, designers have to show their collections twice a year and have no less than 35 pieces in each collection. - #esmoddubai #esmod #hautecouture #newcouture #learnfashion #fashionstudy #indubai #collegefashion #fashioncollege #fashionschool #dubaifashioncollege #dubaifashionschool

Haute Couture translates to “high sewing” and relates to the extreme attention to detail sewn within a garment and reserved only for truly one-of-a-kind pieces. The name originated from Fédération Française de la Couture, which is the governing body for the French fashion industry in 1868. As for Ready to Wear, or what the French call prêt-à-porter, these are pieces of high-end garments that are available to purchase in stores and online. Can’t afford Haute Couture? That’s ok, only 2000 people worldwide annually purchase Haute Couture (not just “borrow” it for the red carpet). However, lucky for everyone else, Haute Couture actually inspires ready to wear collections. In fact, they both influence the mass production level of the fashion industry. This occurs because the industry knows that customers want the couture look, but at more accessible and affordable price point. Good thing too, because the average time spent on a couture dress is around 300 hours and costs upwards of $90,000 where as a ready to wear is between 50 and 100 hours and significantly less expensive. Our undergraduate program Fashion Design & Creation includes RTW-Luxury RTW-Haute-couture-Creator & Stage costume. - #esmoddubai #esmod #readytowear #luxuryreadytowear #hautecouture #creator #stagecostume #fashion #fashioncourse #fashiondesign #fashionschool #fashionacademy #fashioncollege #fashiondegree #fashiongraduate #fashionstudent #fashiondesignstudent #fashionstudent #fashionclass #fashiondesigning #mydubai #fashiondubai

WHAT'S BEHIND THE RISE OF RECYCLED & UPCYCLED GARMENTS? For new brands and retailers, they serve as art pieces, cultural commentary and a sense of connection. So, what is upcycling and what does it have to do with clothes? To put it simply, Upcycling is a form of recycling. Upcycled clothing is a great way to spruce up old worn out or damaged materials into brand spanking new pieces. Like ethical and sustainable fashion, it has a few names, such as: repurposed clothing, reused clothing and recycled clothing. The main difference between upcycling and recycling is that with upcycled clothes, waste is looked at creatively and transformed into something new. Whereas with recycling, the material needs to be broken down first before it can be used. Other than getting a one of a kind piece for you, there are other enormous environmental benefits to upcycling clothing. Because upcycled clothing uses significantly less raw materials, it massively reduces the harmful impacts of fashion production. Such as less water usage, less chemicals and less carbon emissions. Also, as the clothing would have been discarded, it saves tonnes worth of clothing ending up in the landfill. That’s what we call Planet Friendly! Check our 2019 graduate’s recycling collection @angikoontu and join our fashion undergraduate program if you care about our planet !. - #esmoddubai #esmod #upcycling #upcyclingfashion #recycling #recyclingfashion #sustainable #sustainablefashion #fashionstudent #fashiondesign #fashionschool #fashioncollege #fashiondegree #mydubai #fashiondubai #dubaicollege #fashiongraduate

Our creative process. Without imagination there would be no creation. The fashion cycle, as we know it today, imposes an ever-more-frequent renewal of our wardrobe. Like any other market that depends on the principle of consumption, this cycle means that it: Questions itself numerous times during the year - fulfills new consumer needs and behaviors - proposes a style and aesthetic in synch with our era. The creative process is a key development tool if you want to meet the 3 imperatives: Creativity, Adjustment, Aesthetic. Join us to learn how to look at things another way, think differently and experiment. - #esmoddubai #esmod #aesthetic #creativity #experiment #sagafurs #fashionstudent #fashiondesign #fashionschool #fashioncollege #fashiondegree #bethechange #nextdesigner #dubai #madeindubai #mydubai #fashiondubai #dubaicollege #fashiongraduate

A journey through Esmod Dubai Graduates creations. < PUNK >. Since its origins in the 1970s, punk has had an explosive influence on fashion. Chanel, Alaïa, JPGaultier, Gareth Pugh, Alexander McQueen, Givenchy have all paid a tribute to the mouvement. With its eclectic mixing of stylistic references, punk effectively introduced the postmodern concept of bricolage to the elevated precincts of haute couture and directional ready-to-wear. As a style, punk is about chaos, anarchy, and rebellion. Drawing on provocative sexual and political imagery, punks made fashion overtly hostile and threatening. This aesthetic of violence was intrinsic to the clothes themselves, which were often customized with rips, tears, and slashes, as well as studs, spikes, zippers, D-Rings, safety pins, and razor blades, among other things. Punk’s aesthetic in a way or another still impacts high fashion today. Haute couture has readily appropriated the visual and symbolic language of punk, replacing beads with studs, paillettes with safety pins, and feathers with razor blades in an attempt to capture the style’s rebellious energy. Come express your rebellious attitude creatively at Esmod Dubai, we’ll make it rock !. - #esmoddubai #esmod #punk #punkrock #rebellious #explosive #studs #spikes #fashionstudent #fashiondesign #fashionschool #fashioncollege #fashiondegree #bethechange #nextdesigner #dubai #madeindubai #mydubai #fashiondubai #dubaicollege #fashiongraduate

A journey through Esmod Dubai Graduates creations. Luxury brands have made a shift by attracting young designers with streetwear roots. From Virgil Abloh’s appointment at Louis Vuitton or Riccardo Tisci’s at Burberry. Luxury labels are strategically tapping designers with a younger audience in order to “earn streetwear credibility.” The rise of streetwear has come along with a shift in what younger generations think of as luxury and status symbols. High-end fashion brands are “investing in luxury streetwear” to attract younger shoppers. Streetwear pieces don’t necessarily have to be expensive to be desirable, though they often are. It’s more important that they’re rare and make a bold statement. The question is whether streetwear will survive as it grows from a niche category for those in the know to a massive, mainstream industry fueled by outsized hype and high resale prices. Or perhaps the better question to ask is, what will it evolve into next? Join our Undergraduate Fashion Design Program to start the next chapter. - #esmoddubai #esmod #streetwear #streetweardesigner #fashionstudent #fashiondesign #fashionschool #fashioncollege #fashiondegree #bethechange #nextdesigner #dubai #madeindubai #mydubai #fashiondubai #dubaicollege #fashiongraduate
