People, eat your spinach! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ There are so many great reasons to eat spinach, but these do NOT include detoxing, immune boosting effects, chakra balancing properties or because it's calorie-free or going to make you lose weight (even without an overall calorie deficit) ๐Ÿ’ช . Spinach still has calories, and the only thing that can make you lose weight is a calorie deficit! However, spinach CAN make it easier to achieve an overall calorie deficit because it is very low calorie and can be added to so many meals to make them extra filling! I personally love spinach and it's hard to ignore all the vitamins and nutrients it contains! Spinach is a good source of vitamin K, vitamin A, folate, magnesium, iron, vitamin B, vitamin E, calcium, potassium, vitamin C & more! Do you eat spinach? The truth is, if you just work on being happier, then the weight loss will follow. . Ignoring the core issue of your unhappiness and focusing on weight loss instead allows you to bury the reality of what's causing you to emotionally overeat in the first place. . Itโ€™s like putting a bucket under a leaky faucet. It might work for a day or two, but you still havenโ€™t replaced the plumbing. . In other words, you can only avoid it for so long before you'll be confronted by those uncomfortable feelings again. . But the problem is, you still haven't learned how to deal with them when they resurface. And so you eat. . Weight gain is the byproduct of unhappiness, not the cause. . Whilst this is important - so is everything you consume - including snacks. Whilst main meals may be planned meticulously with pinpoint macros, this effort is somewhat pointless if the overall diet is corroded by unsupportive snacking. - The point of a โ€˜snackโ€™ may vary from one individual to the next. One may see it as an opportunity to quell hunger with a marginal โ€˜calorie hitโ€™ to avoid an eventual calorie excess. One may use its concept regularly to supplement smaller main meals to provide energy. One may require consistent intake of calories for athletic or muscle building purposes. One may simply enjoy the foods they snack on and prioritise them instead of main meals. - - The fundamental constant in all of these scenarios should be awareness of calorie, nutrient (and in some cases protein and fibre) intake. Additional awareness of the relationship between snacks and main meals should also be identified, ensuring that the goal is always supported. - - All but one of the options in the graphic are nutrient dense.
