Well it depends on the context (and the fitness guru) but it's essentially the idea of eating nutrient-dense foods 80% of the time, and less-nutrient dense foods 20% of the time.⠀ ⠀ Do it how you want but the two common ways of hitting it are:⠀ ⠀ 1. ❤️(For humans who like numbers):⠀ Eating 80% of your calories from filling, nutrient-dense sources. And 20% of your calories from less-filling, less nutrient-dense sources. Like Sainbury’s 35p basic milk chocolate. Don’t @ me. This is a more specific approach.⠀ ⠀ 2. ❤️(For humans who don’t like numbers):⠀ Making 80% of your food choices filling and nutrient-dense. This is a less tailored approach.⠀ ⠀ You can split it daily, weekly, monthly, whatever. Not only are oils processed fat, but they are easy to over consume and can easily double or triple calories of every meal! . But between the two, olive oil 100% beats coconut oil because it’s much lower in saturated fat (which increases your risk of heart disease.) . Coconut oil is not all bad, but it is often thought of as a "healthier" option which isn't the case due to the high saturated fat content! . The guidelines for saturated fat from the American Heart Association is 5-6% of your daily calories. For a person eating 2000 calories per day, this is no more than 120 calories of saturated fat, or 13g. . Who doesn't like a good smoothie?? 😃They are not only tasty, but are an easy way to get all your nutrients in easily and enjoyably! - Depending on your goals, how you portion the ingredients in your smoothies is essential! While the ingredients themselves are the same, the amounts thereof are slightly different! - For muscle gain, we want a bit higher calories! We want those extra calories to help support protein synthesis and help support strength gainz as well! Adding an extra bit of berries and seeds and dates, the latter 2 which are more calorically-dense, will serve just well! - For fat loss, we want the same nutrient quality, just less calories! Thus, we will reduce the portions of those calorically-dense foods like seeds and dates while keeping the nutrient quality high! - Try portioning your foods or smoothies based on your goals!
