This is why we PLANK! โžก๏ธ The plank uses more energy to perform than most core exercises. It allows you to strengthen your core WITHOUT putting excessive pressure on your spine. It is even recommended by physical therapists as a rehab exercise to reduce lower back pain and improve posture. Planks engage and strengthen ALL core muscles which will allow you to lift weights heavier and with better form AND improve your overall athletic performance. When people ask me the question if I would want to go back in time to do it all again, to be young again, to do things differently... the answer is always NO! ๐Ÿ‘‰ First of all, you couldn't pay me to go back to my high school years... or college years for that matter ๐Ÿคฃ Life is full of mistakes and screw ups (I've had plenty, trust me!) But all of those failures got me to where I am today. Do I still make mistakes? Absolutely. However, with each mistake you grow, you learn how to do it better... you evolve as a person. Dwelling on the past or all the things you coulda, woulda shoulda done will hold you back from all the great things that are ahead. ~As long as your failures are products of your passion, you are always able to begin again ~

Want to be healthier and make better food choices? Cook! The less you cook, the more you gain ๐Ÿšซ A report from Johns Hopkins University found that people who make their own meals eat less sugar, fat and calories ๐ŸŒฑ Restaurant meals tend to be calorie heavy and less nutritious (which can often times result in bloating and overeating later in the day). If you keep good food in your fridge, you will eat good food ๐ŸŒฑ How many of you have gone to the store, stocked up on a bunch of fruits and vegetables only to throw them away a week later because they are now gross and growing mold? Yea, we've all been there ๐Ÿ˜‰ Meal prep is not just about cooking... it's about prepping your food to save you time during the week! I typically prep fruits (like these strawberries) and vegetables so they are ready to go when I need them. Store them in your Tupperware containers and you're good to go! (We use @thefitpacker containers ๐Ÿ‘‡ link below ๐Ÿ‘‡) Still not able to eat them before they go bad? Pop them in the freezer so you can use them for baking, protein shakes, etc. ๐Ÿ˜€ #StrongerGreen

Sometimes you just have to stop and smell the roses ~ something I have to remind myself of often... especially this time of year ๐ŸŒน It's easy to get wrapped up in the stressful parts of the holiday season (travel, cooking, shopping, family, budgeting, more eating, more drinking, entertaining... you all get the picture ๐Ÿ˜‚) Being a person who is extremely Type A when it comes to time management, organization, structure and preparation... I get it! However, I also realize the importance of letting go a bit and appreciating everything I have and everyone I have in my life... near and far โค I've accepted that things won't be perfectly scheduled, my meals won't be perfectly tracked, every workout won't be great... but I will be spending time with people who make my life happier, healthier... and better โค #StressLess #HealthyHolidays

Fall in love with taking care of yourself. Being "fit" is not all about having abs and looking good in your skinny jeans. When you have a healthy body, the mind will follow. Easier said than done at times... especially when we live in a world dictated by social media, "friends", likes and followers. It is easy to scroll through your feed and feel envious of people who appear to be happier, live in a bigger house, have more money, more friends, drive a better car, be more fit, more successful, more, more, more. It's important to understand that everyone has struggles, obstacles and insecurities they aren't putting on blast in their Instagram posts or stories. Unless we truly know the people we are seeing pictures of everyday, we have no idea what their journey is all about. Core work ๐Ÿ‘Š Add a slight variation to your crunches by placing a resistance band above the knees! This will help engage your lower abs more than simply putting your knees at 90 degrees ๐Ÿ‘ I incorporate core work into ALL of my training sessions. Its important to do a VARIETY of core exercises... not just crunches! A weak core can leave you more susceptible to lower back pain, poor posture and injuries. Strengthening your core is about more than just "getting abs"... it helps you function better as a human and perform everyday tasks like housework, picking things up from the ground, walking, putting on your shoes, bending, twisting... Do apples have carbs? YES. Do they contain sugar? YES. Should we avoid them because carbs and sugar are bad?
