View across to Palm Beach from the gun emplacements at West Head. It’s a steep walk down on the the original sandstone steps built by soldiers back in the 1940’s. What an amazing feat carving and carting all the materials down the cliff. It’s a bit of a slog hiking back up but so glad we did it.

Royal Spoonbill (Platalea regia) cooling down, Warriewood Wetlands.
Another shot of the Laughing Kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae) desperately trying to hold on to its catch after this interloper came along to try and steal it. After about an hour of wrestling the original Kookaburra was the victor, and deservedly so.

Laughing Kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae). It was amazing to watch this Kookaburra dive into the river and come up with this pretty big fish. Living in suburbia you tend to forget they are actually a Kingfisher. Barwon River NSW.
